# Iterable Popup Integrations: Project Identity, Static Lists and Signup Events

Compare three popup connections for Iterable. Check email versus user ID, the project region and whether a signup enters a list or emits a journey event.

A lifecycle team may say “send this signup to Iterable” and mean one of three jobs: update a user, add that user to a static list, or emit an event that starts a journey. Decide which job is required before issuing a key. All three can involve the same address while producing very different results.

The project’s identity model narrows the choice early. Justuno specifies a project where email is the user identifier. Wisepops calls out the project region. A successful test in another project is little evidence about the one used for production messaging.

## Start with project identity and a static list

Iterable documents a native HTML signup form for static lists in email-based and hybrid projects. That form code is unavailable for userID-based projects. Check the project type with the team that owns customer profiles before promising an anonymous website visitor an email subscription.

For a list newsletter, look up the user on the intended list. For an event-triggered journey, open the user’s event history as well. A custom property such as favourite category describes the user today; a signup event records an action that occurred at a particular time.

## What should your Iterable popup send?

| Requirement | What to look for |
| --- | --- |
| Project identifier | Check whether the connector can use the identifier your project requires. An anonymous visitor may only be willing to supply an email. |
| Region and key | Select the correct project region and use the type of API key documented for the integration. |
| List or event | Read the entry condition on the actual Iterable journey. Take note of the precise event name if it uses one. |

## 3 popup tools with a recorded Iterable connection

Sorted by Popup Papa’s absolute capability score out of 100. This measures the overall toolkit, not the depth of this one integration. Prices are the directory’s Papa pick plans, not guaranteed minimum connector prices. Check the connector tier and capacity before buying; Iterable and any bridge subscription are separate.

#### Wisepops

#### Claspo

Useful when the form must deliver email, a shopper’s answer and a fixed source value into an existing project.

## How each connection works

Connection details and plan conditions are shown below. The field tables describe the popup editor; supported transfer depends on the connector.

Justuno

### Connection to Iterable

Use a server-side Iterable API key for a project configured to identify users by email. Justuno sends a subscription event named justuno. In projects that drop unrecognized events, register the event and any necessary fields before relying on it to start a journey.

[Iterable connection](https://hub.justuno.com/article/469-syncing-iterable-to-justuno)

| Editor capability | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Phone field | The editor provides a Phone Number property and the inspected wheel template includes a country-aware mobile-number screen. |
| SMS capture | The wheel template separates mobile capture from email capture and includes SMS marketing consent copy, Terms and Privacy links. |
| Free text | Short Text and Long Text fields are available in the editor, alongside Date and profile properties. |
| Single choice | Radio Button and Single Select controls are available for collecting one answer. |
| Multiple choice | The field library includes Checkbox controls for selectable answers. |
| Consent checkbox | The editor exposes a Consent Checkbox and a separate SMS Opt-In Button. |
| Email capture | An Email Address field was added to an unpublished form. Required input, validation, duplicate handling and prefilling are available. |

### Papa’s take

The self-service tier includes experiments without the managed-service fee.

Wisepops

### Connection to Iterable

Create an Iterable key and choose the US or EU endpoint for the connected project in Wisepops. Select the destination list on the popup’s signup form. Use a contact from that project to verify membership; a list of the same name in another project is a different destination.

| Editor capability | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Phone field | The form field menu includes Phone, separately from Email. |
| Free text | The question menu offers single-line Text and Multi-line text fields. |
| Single choice | Radio buttons and a Drop-down list are available in the question menu. |
| Multiple choice | The question menu includes Checkboxes for selecting multiple answers. |
| Hidden fields | Hidden field is available in the question menu for values that visitors do not enter visibly. |
| Email capture | Add an Email field to a form step. The inspected field can block addresses already collected. |

### Papa’s take

For teams buying a managed onsite program, rather than just a popup editor. Final scope needs a quote.

Claspo

### Connection to Iterable

Connect the widget to Iterable, choose the subscriber list and map email plus any supported contact fields. Fixed field values can identify the campaign or language. Check the type of each receiving field when extending an existing Iterable profile.

| Editor capability | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| Phone field | The editor provides a Phone field. This establishes phone collection, not SMS marketing consent or delivery. |
| Free text | Text input and Text area collect short and long written answers; Calendar and Date fields are also available. |
| Single choice | Dropdown and Radio components collect a single selected answer. |
| Consent checkbox | The component library includes Checkbox and Data processing and terms of use controls. |
| Hidden fields | Attach hidden fields to the widget submission through the editor’s hidden-field settings. |
| Email capture | The editor provides an Email field and a separate signup page in the inspected game template. |

### Papa’s take

Removes branding and leaves room for a growing store. Shopify pricing is used here. Team invitations are documented for the web app, but its help center excludes Shopify accounts.

## How the connection changes the workflow

Example setups using the connections described above.

### A list grows but the welcome journey stays empty

In a test project, inspect the journey entry condition and write down whether it watches list membership or an event. Submit a new address and verify those two destinations separately. List growth can be accurate even when the event definition rejects the signal.

Justuno documents the event name and the effect of dropping unrecognized events. For a form configured only to add a list member, use a trigger supported by that route or arrange a separate event that you can inspect.

### Preserve a known customer’s existing profile

Capture one signup from a new reader and another from someone already known to the product. On the latter, inspect the original user’s attributes and history. Also search for a second user created under a different identifier.

If the team uses customer IDs heavily, resolve that identity question before rolling out to the full site. Changing a field map later is easier than reconciling two histories after live journeys have already sent messages.

## Check the whole journey before launch

Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.

1. 01Confirm project type, region, list and key type.
2. 02Test both an unknown email and an existing project user.
3. 03Inspect the expected list membership, event name and event properties separately.
4. 04Check that one signup starts the intended journey once.

<a id="questions"></a>

## Common questions

Is Iterable’s own static-list form available in every project?

Iterable documents its HTML form code for email-based and hybrid projects. Its help excludes userID-based projects from that particular route.

Why does Justuno mention an event definition?

Iterable projects can restrict unrecognized events. Justuno describes registering its subscription event when the project is configured to drop unknown ones.

Can a form pass a fixed locale?

Claspo documents static values alongside mapped fields. Verify the locale’s type and stored value on the Iterable user before using it in a campaign.
