Alia vs BDOW!.
An incentive program or a newsletter subscription?
Compare Alia and BDOW! for reward-led Shopify signups, double opt-in, native email, testing and billing by visitors or contacts.
What do you need your website to do next?
Consider what should happen if a shopper types an address, claims a reward and closes the popup. Alia can pass the offer into Klaviyo at email submission, allowing the welcome flow to retain the reward. BDOW! can instead wait for the reader to confirm by email before adding the address to the mailing list.
For an established store, preserving the reward and visitor preference may be the hard part. For a publisher starting without a mailing service, keeping signups and newsletters under one subscription may remove an entire integration.
How the comparison works
15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.
Formats & content
Alia combines popup steps, a teaser and text variables. A reward screen can display a different message depending on the offer a shopper earned. BDOW! combines popups with Smart Bars, Scroll Boxes, countdowns and a reopening tab. CTA campaigns can send visitors to a page without collecting an email, making them useful for a sale or download.

Forms
A signup can start with an optional preference question and continue to an email field. In our storefront preview, Skip advanced to the email step. A malformed address and an unchecked required consent box each prevented submission. BDOW! collects custom text and choice fields, hidden context and consent. Site-level double opt-in waits for email confirmation before admitting the new subscriber to the list.

Surveys
Mini quizzes record answers on the visitor profile, and different answers can lead to different steps. This is useful when a welcome email should feature the topic a shopper chose. BDOW! forms collect written answers, single choices and checkbox groups. Those inputs can gather simple preferences, but a choice field alone does not establish a scored quiz or conditional recommendation journey.

Gamification
Alia gives a merchant several ways to reveal an incentive, including wheel, Plinko and scratch formats. BDOW! can deliver an offer through a form or autoresponse when a game is unnecessary. Alia includes a wheel, scratch reveal, mystery box, pick-a-card and Plinko. Wheel and Plinko offer outcome probabilities, so a merchant can control how often the most expensive prize appears. A BDOW! offer can reward a signup with a discount. A weighted wheel or another chance-based prize mechanic remains unconfirmed.

Targeting
Use market, geography, cookies or audience segments to choose eligible visitors. Delay, exit and scroll control when the invitation appears. A separate interval suppresses a second popup shortly after another one was viewed. BDOW! uses URL, device, location and date rules, plus exit intent, timers and a click trigger. Its frequency controls can distinguish subscribers and opted-out visitors.

Experiments
Smart Testing can generate variants, queue them and select a winner. The operator reviews candidate changes before starting the test. The vendor describes this workflow across plans. BDOW! Email & SMS
Alia captures email and SMS opt-ins. In its Klaviyo connection the reward can travel with the email submission, so the welcome flow can deliver it even if the shopper closes the final screen. Pro combines form capture with native email sends. A success notification can alert the team, while an autoresponse can deliver the subscriber’s welcome message.

Team & sites
Staff can receive personal logins. An agency can also connect its organization to a store as Viewer, Editor or Admin. A reporting partner and a team responsible for building campaigns can therefore have different access. BDOW! grants access per site and distinguishes Users from Admins; administration includes billing and user management. Additional sites need separate Pro subscriptions.

Developer
Alia exposes read-only campaign analytics through MCP and its API. BDOW! can send subscriber events to an external workflow. An analyst asking about last week’s performance needs a different interface from an automation waiting for the next signup. The public API and MCP server expose campaign analytics. The browser SDK can open a live popup and can respect or bypass its targeting rules. Campaign editing happens in the dashboard. BDOW! Pro includes outgoing webhooks for subscription data. A submission webhook moves a response into another system; it does not give an external assistant control over campaign design or publication.

Editor & workflow
Lia builds and edits drafts from a prompt. Our test produced a preference step, an email form with required consent and a thank-you screen. The completed flow could be tried on a Shopify storefront before publication. BDOW! saves campaigns as drafts before publication. Its current Pro subscription includes the campaign tools, while the legacy Free plan is scheduled to end on November 9, 2026.

Data & reporting
Alia reports views, signups, poll answers and attributed revenue. Campaign, device and traffic-source breakdowns help distinguish a change in the visitor mix from a change in the offer. A site owner can export subscribers to CSV. With double opt-in enabled, a completed form and a confirmed list member are counted at different stages.

Integrations
Alia documents email and SMS connections including Klaviyo and Postscript. Its Zapier guide uses a browser listener to forward a signup to a catch hook, which requires site code. BDOW! offers email destinations such as Mailchimp, Klaviyo and MailerLite, plus Zapier, webhooks and FormSync. A site-wide destination can be overridden by a campaign.

Shopify
Merchants can use a Shopify discount as the basis for unique offer codes. Shopify markets and order history can also determine which shoppers see the invitation. A general popup on a store is different from access to its customers, cart and discounts. BDOW!’s integration guide describes Shopify connectivity as being updated, so that connection is not treated as ready here.

Pricing
Alia Basic includes a 20,000-visitor allowance at $100 monthly. BDOW! Pro starts at $25 for one site and 1,000 stored contacts. The mailing list can grow even during a month when traffic stays flat. The reviewed Basic offer costs $100 per month for 20,000 visitors and includes popup testing and targeting. Higher traffic and a managed service are separate buying decisions. BDOW! Pro costs $25 per month for one site and 1,000 stored contacts, with unlimited native email sends. Each additional site requires its own subscription.

What matters most to you?
Let’s put your priorities first
First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works
These scores are relative to Alia and BDOW! in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.
Relative scores, not universal ratings
The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.
One shared pool of 100 points
The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.
How features earn points
If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.
How prices earn points
Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.
Which plans count
Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.
How your priorities change the score
A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
