Elfsight vs Picreel.
Two AI editors, two different lead workflows

Compare Elfsight Popup and Picreel for AI editing, conditional forms, sales handoff, exports, branding and annual commitments.

What do you need your website to do next?

A request for a new popup is easy to write. Checking the result is where these products diverge. Elfsight generated a form with an email field, consent and topic choices, but used radio buttons where a dropdown had been requested. Picreel added the new heading requested in our test while leaving the original offer visible.

Beyond the editor, Elfsight offers a short route from a form block to a spreadsheet or Mailchimp. Picreel offers page and audience rules for promotional campaigns and can export leads for sales. Those paths are worth comparing before choosing an AI assistant.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

Elfsight can show information with text, an image and a close control, without a form or action button. It also includes a timer and element-level device visibility. Announcement Bar is a separate Elfsight app. Picreel builds promotional and lead-capture campaigns with animated entrances. Business adds countdowns and gamification. A message with a destination button can announce an update without requiring an email signup.

Forms

Elfsight can reveal a field based on an earlier answer, useful when a quote needs different details for different services. Picreel can carry hidden context with an enquiry and show a second offer screen. Elfsight supports phone, text, hidden, choice and dropdown fields, multiple selections, consent and required inputs. Conditional visibility can show a field based on another answer. Picreel provides phone, written-answer, choice, consent and hidden inputs. Its practical role is a straightforward lead form rather than a full contact-and-follow-up workspace.

Surveys

Elfsight forms offer text, choice and dropdown fields, multiple selection and conditional field visibility. This supports questions that depend on earlier answers, while result scoring and product recommendations are separate requirements. Picreel forms include written answers, radio buttons and dropdowns. These can capture a preference during signup, but do not by themselves establish a recommendation quiz, score calculation or branching survey.

Targeting

Elfsight combines page and device rules with scheduling, frequency, page-load, delay, scroll, exit and element-click triggers. Elements can have separate desktop and mobile visibility. Picreel provides URL inclusion and exclusion, device and country rules, new or returning visitor conditions and cookies. Exit, delay, scroll and CSS-selector clicks control the opening moment, with repeat display from once to monthly.

Experiments

If the job is maintaining a few factual notices, the lack of a confirmed experiment workflow may be less important than the widget count and required display controls. Picreel’s trial lets you select two to five campaigns for a comparison test. Its public Free overview and paid tier descriptions disagree on access, with the detailed list placing A/B testing in Enterprise.

Developer

Elfsight forwards form responses to a supplied endpoint and supports automation connections. These submission routes move visitor data; they do not establish external control over widget configuration or publication. Picreel provides a Webhook integration for lead delivery, while its published Enterprise offer lists API access and callbacks. Match the required operation to the plan; sending a lead is different from creating a campaign externally.

Editor & workflow

The AI assistant generates editable text and form blocks. In our draft it labelled consent as required while leaving the actual required-field control off. Layout and style have separate editor settings. Picreel lets you edit copy and layout through ProProfs AI, save a campaign switched off and activate it separately. Trial access can expose controls from higher tiers, so choose the paid package around the tools required for ongoing campaigns.

Data & reporting

Both products can export responses or leads. Picreel Enterprise also supports pushing enrichment data back through its lead API. A team working from a Google Sheet may only need Elfsight’s direct submission route. For a notice with no action button, use delivery and audience context rather than treating a missing click as failure. For a signup, keep submissions and downstream contact delivery distinct from the load count. Picreel can export captured leads as CSV or Excel. Google Analytics provides a separate event-reporting route, while Enterprise offers lead retrieval and enrichment through its API.

Picreel lists email platforms, HubSpot and Salesforce, with Zapier extending the available destinations; Enterprise lists API access, callbacks and webhooks.

Pricing

Elfsight Basic offers three widgets and branding removal for $6 monthly. Picreel Essentials is advertised at $9.99 per month billed annually, with branding removal priced separately. Compare the branded and unbranded versions of the same campaign. Elfsight Basic costs $6 monthly for three widgets, 5,000 monthly loads and branding removal. Free includes one widget and 200 monthly loads. A load can be billed even when the visitor never sees the popup. Picreel Essentials advertises $9.99 per month billed annually for 50,000 pageviews and one domain; Business is $39.99 for 200,000 pageviews and five domains. Branding removal is a separate $300 per year.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to Elfsight and Picreel in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
