What do you need your website to do next?
Getsitecontrol and OptinMonster both put signup forms and promotional messages on a website, but package the surrounding work differently. Getsitecontrol includes native email and detailed form controls. OptinMonster centers its offer on campaigns that deliver leads to another marketing platform.
The distinction becomes visible beyond an email-only form. Getsitecontrol supports conditional questions and feedback ratings; OptinMonster adds Yes/No journeys, provider-specific mappings and campaign controls across paid tiers. A preliminary choice and a branching questionnaire are different capabilities.
Account access also matters for teams. Both separate parts of campaign work, while their pricing models measure different activity and include different renewal conditions. The comparison uses the same capabilities and workload scenarios rather than assuming two similarly named plans cover the same job.
How the comparison works
15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.
Formats & content
Getsitecontrol builds standalone notices, slide-ins and bars, with teasers, countdowns and dynamic text. Desktop and mobile styles can be adjusted separately. OptinMonster includes floating bars and animated lightboxes, with countdowns and dynamic Smart Tags on Pro. Its operational-notice examples use messages with buttons, a useful format when an update has a destination.

Forms
Getsitecontrol is the stronger fit for answer-dependent fields and dedicated feedback ratings. OptinMonster’s Yes/No route is useful for an initial choice before signup, without being equivalent to a branching survey. Getsitecontrol collects email, phone, text, single-choice and multiple-choice answers. It adds star, NPS, emoji and binary ratings, hidden values and consent checkboxes. Conditional fields and page branching tailor the next question to an earlier answer. Double opt-in verifies email ownership, while reCAPTCHA screens suspicious submissions.
OptinMonster connects email capture to an external email provider. Plus adds two-step Yes/No campaigns, letting a visitor express interest before seeing the signup form. The second screen changes the route into the form; it is separate from custom-field mapping, input validation and answer-dependent branching.

Surveys

Gamification
Getsitecontrol includes multiple game formats. OptinMonster’s wheel belongs to Growth, so the Pro price shown elsewhere is not the price of its gamified setup. Getsitecontrol offers a prize wheel, a scratch card and a tap-to-reveal card. Prize settings include codes and relative weights, with replay controls. The wheel adds spin duration and a pause after spinning; the scratch card sets how much of the cover must be removed.
OptinMonster places gamified wheels on Growth. That establishes a spin-to-win format at a higher tier than the selected Pro plan. The existence of the wheel does not establish a scratch card, seasonal calendar or the same reward-probability controls as another product.

Targeting
Getsitecontrol combines page, device, location, referral and visitor conditions, including Shopify cart data. Widgets can open after a delay, on scroll or on exit intent. Repeat-display settings respond to a view, closure or action; schedules use dates, hours and weekdays. OptinMonster distributes targeting controls across paid tiers. Scheduling and advanced campaign controls are part of Pro, while geolocation requires Growth. This makes the combination of conditions important: a regional promotion with a fixed launch period needs the tier covering both the location and schedule.

Experiments
Getsitecontrol Pro runs widget A/B tests with random visitor assignment and reports views, actions and click-through rate for each variant. Tests end manually. Its separate email-broadcast testing can select a winning email, which does not establish an automatic winner for popup tests. OptinMonster includes A/B testing from Plus. A team can compare popup designs without buying Growth solely for experiments. Automatic winner selection, adjustable traffic allocation and a no-popup control are separate criteria; the A/B-testing label alone does not establish them.

Email & SMS
Native broadcasts and automations distinguish Getsitecontrol. OptinMonster delivers subscribers into the external platform that will send the messages. Getsitecontrol has its own email editor, broadcasts, contact segments and automations. A form submission can start a welcome sequence; workflows can add delays, apply conditions and respond to contact or store events. Email sends are billed as credits separately from widget views.
OptinMonster passes captured leads to a connected email platform. That platform owns broadcasts, subscriber segmentation and welcome sequences. The popup subscription and the sending subscription therefore remain separate parts of the budget, even when the integration creates a smooth signup journey.

Team & sites
Both provide a meaningful separation between campaign preparation and publication. Compare the relevant site permissions and data access, not just the number of users. Getsitecontrol assigns None, View, Edit or Full access separately to widgets, emails and contacts on each site. Edit allows drafting; Full adds actions such as activation, sending or exports. Account admins can manage billing, sites and users, while only the owner can delete the account. Sites have separate subscriptions.
OptinMonster Pro adds Viewer, Author and Manager subaccounts assigned to sites and folders. Authors cannot publish, and access to leads or saved assets can be granted separately. These controls provide a concrete division between drafting a campaign and making it live for visitors.

Developer
Getsitecontrol provides browser hooks for widget actions and webhooks for captured data. These connections are separate from the assistant inside the editor. OptinMonster Pro includes webhooks for lead delivery. A webhook connects captured data to another workflow; it should not be treated as an interface for an external agent to build or activate campaigns.

Support
Getsitecontrol includes live chat on all plans, including Free. Product support covers the widget and email platform; the subscription remains a self-service product rather than a campaign-production retainer. OptinMonster advertises human support. The channel, availability and assistance included with a selected subscription should be distinguished from managed campaign work. A support promise is not a guarantee of a particular response time or round-the-clock live chat.

Data & reporting
Getsitecontrol reports widget views, actions and click-through rates, with breakdowns by page, traffic source, country and device. Responses and contacts can be exported. Email campaigns have their own delivery and engagement reporting. OptinMonster’s campaign comparison and integration routes support evaluating capture campaigns. A signup total is different from downstream purchase value or email engagement. The scored reporting rows distinguish confirmed analytics and export operations from capabilities that remain unconfirmed; a connector does not establish a native reporting API.

Integrations
Getsitecontrol connects forms to email services, CRM destinations, Google Sheets, Zapier and analytics. Field mapping passes form, system and static values to the destination. Webhooks provide another route for submissions, and its own contact list can power native email campaigns. OptinMonster gates integration access by plan. HubSpot, Klaviyo, Zapier, webhooks and delivery to multiple providers are documented on Pro or higher. A simple email-list connection and a workflow sending the same response to several systems can therefore require different subscriptions.

Shopify
Getsitecontrol uses Shopify cart and customer parameters in targeting, and widget buttons can add a product to the cart or apply a discount. The main GSC Email Marketing + Popups app also connects store events to email workflows. The separate GSC Popup, Email Pop Up app carries the Built for Shopify badge and supports Shopify Flow; neither earns points for Getsitecontrol. Installing a popup on a Shopify storefront is separate from reading its cart, generating a discount or adding a product. OptinMonster’s general lead-generation offer should be evaluated against the specific store operations in the table. Unconfirmed cart and coupon capabilities do not become supported merely because a campaign can appear on a store.

Pricing
Getsitecontrol uses monthly widget-view allowances with email charged separately. OptinMonster’s advertised annual equivalent and renewal fee need to be read together, especially when a feature pushes the purchase to Growth. Getsitecontrol Free includes 10,000 widget views per month. Pro costs $19 per month per site for 100,000 views; Pro Max costs $29 for unlimited views. Email credits are separate, so a popup-only bill and a popup-plus-email bill are different calculations.
OptinMonster Pro is advertised at a first-year equivalent of $37 per month, billed annually, for 25,000 campaign impressions and three sites. Renewal is $870 per year, or $72.50 per month on an equivalent basis. Growth is a higher tier for geolocation and wheels; Plus can cover simpler A/B-tested capture campaigns.

The required targeting, game and integration tier is more informative than the lowest advertised price.

What matters most to you?
Let’s put your priorities first
First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works
These scores are relative to Getsitecontrol and OptinMonster in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.
Relative scores, not universal ratings
The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.
One shared pool of 100 points
The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.
How features earn points
If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.
How prices earn points
Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.
Which plans count
Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.
How your priorities change the score
A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
