OptinMonster vs Sleeknote.
Tiered capture campaigns or broader promotional formats?

Compare OptinMonster vs Sleeknote: popup forms, targeting, games, integrations, pricing and task-based ratings. See the differences that affect your campaign.

What do you need your website to do next?

OptinMonster and Sleeknote both work as capture layers for an existing marketing platform. Neither comparison starts with replacing the email system: it starts with the onsite form, audience rules and data sent to that system.

Sleeknote’s Gamification package adds quizzes, calendars and other engagement formats. OptinMonster places different controls across Plus, Pro and Growth, including experiments, advanced targeting and wheels. The desired campaign determines which package is relevant.

Both also support teams preparing campaigns before publication, but organize access differently. OptinMonster separates site and folder roles; Sleeknote includes unlimited domains and additional users. The comparison follows those concrete controls and the traffic units behind each bill.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

OptinMonster includes floating bars and animated lightboxes, with countdowns and dynamic Smart Tags on Pro. Its operational-notice examples use messages with buttons, a useful format when an update has a destination. Sleeknote separates desktop and mobile campaign designs and display settings. Teasers provide another entry point; on mobile, enabling a teaser replaces the usual opening triggers.

Forms

Sleeknote’s quiz outcomes and answer mapping go beyond OptinMonster’s preliminary Yes/No signup step. Provider-specific field mapping is a separate requirement in both workflows. OptinMonster connects email capture to an external email provider. Plus adds two-step Yes/No campaigns, letting a visitor express interest before seeing the signup form. The second screen changes the route into the form; it is separate from custom-field mapping, input validation and answer-dependent branching.

Sleeknote has phone and SMS elements, short and long text fields, radios, dropdowns, answer buttons and consent checkboxes. Campaigns can span several steps. Its paid Quiz format maps combinations of answers to personalised outcomes and sends the answer values to an email platform or CSV. Phone fields support format checks and accepted-country restrictions.

Surveys

OptinMonster’s two-step Yes/No campaigns start on Plus. A preliminary choice can lead into a signup, but that structure is different from a scored survey or a product quiz with answer-dependent results. Sleeknote’s quizzes map combinations of answers to personalised outcomes and can send those answers to an email platform or CSV. Quizzes belong to the Gamification package; individual rating formats are checked separately.

Gamification

Sleeknote offers a broader named game package. OptinMonster’s wheel requires Growth; it should not be priced using the lower Pro selection. OptinMonster places gamified wheels on Growth. That establishes a spin-to-win format at a higher tier than the selected Pro plan. The existence of the wheel does not establish a scratch card, seasonal calendar or the same reward-probability controls as another product.

Sleeknote’s Gamification package includes wheels, scratch cards, seasonal calendars, quizzes and Learn to Earn. Wheel prizes have relative probabilities and configurable losing outcomes. Calendar doors have their own dates and content. Learn to Earn combines lessons, questions and staged rewards, with coupon lists for individual lessons.

Targeting

OptinMonster distributes targeting controls across paid tiers. Scheduling and advanced campaign controls are part of Pro, while geolocation requires Growth. This makes the combination of conditions important: a regional promotion with a fixed launch period needs the tier covering both the location and schedule. Sleeknote combines page and device filters with location, referral, UTM, cookies and new-visitor rules. Triggers include time, scroll, exit intent, click and SiteData. Per-campaign limits, a domain-level impression limit and Campaign order coordinate several campaigns.

Experiments

Sleeknote includes split tests in Core; OptinMonster starts A/B tests on Plus. Neither label alone establishes a holdout or automatic popup winner. OptinMonster includes A/B testing from Plus. A team can compare popup designs without buying Growth solely for experiments. Automatic winner selection, adjustable traffic allocation and a no-popup control are separate criteria; the A/B-testing label alone does not establish them. Sleeknote includes popup split testing in Core. A test compares two campaigns with traffic allocation starting at 50/50. Saving a test and activating it are separate actions, so the setup can be reviewed before it starts.

Email & SMS

OptinMonster passes captured leads to a connected email platform. That platform owns broadcasts, subscriber segmentation and welcome sequences. The popup subscription and the sending subscription therefore remain separate parts of the budget, even when the integration creates a smooth signup journey. Sleeknote’s documented workflow sends captured leads and their answers to a connected email platform. That platform handles the welcome email, subsequent messages and its own sending bill. Native email sending is unconfirmed in this comparison.

Team & sites

Sleeknote leads this scored round with recorded support for multiple sites, additional users and owner-only billing access. OptinMonster offers more detailed campaign permissions: authors cannot publish, and access to leads and saved assets can be assigned separately. That distinction can matter more than the round total when delegating campaign work.

OptinMonster Pro adds Viewer, Author and Manager subaccounts assigned to sites and folders. Authors cannot publish, and access to leads or saved assets can be granted separately. These controls provide a concrete division between drafting a campaign and making it live for visitors. Sleeknote supports additional users and super users, with billing restricted to the main owner. Core includes unlimited domains and account settings provide site profiles. The subscription scales with traffic rather than adding a base fee for every domain.

Developer

OptinMonster Pro includes webhooks for lead delivery. A webhook connects captured data to another workflow; it should not be treated as an interface for an external agent to build or activate campaigns. Sleeknote’s browser trigger opens an existing campaign, and Custom Integration sends submissions to an endpoint. Its read-only MCP connection exposes campaign and split-test data for external analysis.

Support

OptinMonster advertises human support. The channel, availability and assistance included with a selected subscription should be distinguished from managed campaign work. A support promise is not a guarantee of a particular response time or round-the-clock live chat. Both cover chat-based help; Sleeknote’s phone channel may be useful when you want to talk through a campaign setup. Channel availability should be considered separately from response times and service guarantees.

Editor & workflow

OptinMonster requires a paid subscription to access the editor in the reviewed signup flow. Choose the feature tier before purchasing: Plus, Pro and Growth unlock different campaign controls rather than simply increasing traffic. Sleeknote lets you save campaigns separately from activation and edit desktop and mobile designs. Editor access starts with a 14-day trial rather than an ongoing free plan.

Data & reporting

OptinMonster’s campaign comparison and integration routes support evaluating capture campaigns. A signup total is different from downstream purchase value or email engagement. The scored reporting rows distinguish confirmed analytics and export operations from capabilities that remain unconfirmed; a connector does not establish a native reporting API. Sleeknote reports views, leads and conversion rates with device, source and location breakdowns. Its Shopify connection adds purchase and revenue tracking. Lead and quiz data can be downloaded, and the read-only MCP makes campaign and split-test results available to an external assistant.

Integrations

OptinMonster gates integration access by plan. HubSpot, Klaviyo, Zapier, webhooks and delivery to multiple providers are documented on Pro or higher. A simple email-list connection and a workflow sending the same response to several systems can therefore require different subscriptions. Sleeknote connects to email platforms including Klaviyo, Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign, plus HubSpot and Salesforce, Google Analytics, Segment and Zapier. Custom Integration sends submissions through POST, JSON POST or GET, with Basic Authentication available. Quiz fields can carry destination names and answer values.

Shopify

Installing a popup on a Shopify storefront is separate from reading its cart, generating a discount or adding a product. OptinMonster’s general lead-generation offer should be evaluated against the specific store operations in the table. Unconfirmed cart and coupon capabilities do not become supported merely because a campaign can appear on a store. Sleeknote has a native Shopify app that sends subscribers to Shopify and supplies purchase and revenue tracking. Shopify also appears among its product-recommendation connections. Coupon lists distribute codes to visitors, including as game rewards.

Pricing

OptinMonster’s annual introductory equivalent and renewal fee differ. Sleeknote’s traffic bracket and optional Gamification fee need to be compared against the exact OptinMonster tier required. OptinMonster Pro is advertised at a first-year equivalent of $37 per month, billed annually, for 25,000 campaign impressions and three sites. Renewal is $870 per year, or $72.50 per month on an equivalent basis. Growth is a higher tier for geolocation and wheels; Plus can cover simpler A/B-tested capture campaigns.

Sleeknote’s current pricing page lists Core at €62 per month for up to 25,000 visitors, or €85 with Gamification. The 50,000-visitor bracket is €74 for Core. Annual billing has a lower monthly equivalent and requires an annual commitment. All these plans include unlimited domains.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to OptinMonster and Sleeknote in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
