Privy vs Wisepops.
An integrated store stack or a managed campaign service?

Compare Privy vs Wisepops: popup forms, targeting, games, integrations, pricing and task-based ratings. See the differences that affect your campaign.

What do you need your website to do next?

Privy and Wisepops both help stores engage visitors, but the surrounding services are different. Privy connects displays with email and SMS flows. Wisepops combines onsite software with campaign strategy and production in its managed offer.

Privy’s value is the continuity between a signup, customer record, discount and follow-up message. Wisepops’ value includes experiment controls and the team doing campaign work. A store with an established lifecycle platform may prefer a different arrangement from one looking to consolidate its tools.

The pricing comparison therefore needs context. Privy’s contact-based email bundle and pageview-based Displays product are distinct purchases. Wisepops requires a proposal for the managed scope; its starting figure cannot stand in for every traffic and service requirement.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

Privy uses onsite displays to capture subscribers and present offers. The table separates individual display formats and content controls from the email workflows that follow a signup. Wisepops combines onsite campaigns with controls for message content and display. The table distinguishes the individual formats and content features available for a campaign.

Forms

Privy ties email and text consent to contact properties and duplicate-signup controls. Wisepops adds branching steps and NPS for a different style of data collection. Privy collects email, phone, text, date, radio, dropdown and checkbox fields, with separate email and text opt-in fields. Hidden attributes record UTM values or custom data, and Mini Quiz steps store a preference answer on the contact. Double opt-in, one-signup-per-contact rules and invisible reCAPTCHA protect the list. Wisepops includes email, phone, short and long text, radios, dropdowns, checkboxes and hidden fields. Branch blocks send different answers to different next steps. An email field can block previously collected addresses, and NPS collection is documented.

Gamification

Privy’s Spin to Win sets a label, coupon, win ratio and result text for each slice, and slices can be winning or losing. The wheel can sit behind an email step, with desktop and mobile tabs to reopen it. Wisepops documents wheels, scratch cards, pick-a-box games and seasonal calendars. These broaden the types of promotion beyond a single spin-to-win interaction. Format availability does not establish the same probability and losing-outcome controls for every game.

Targeting

Privy opens displays on page load, after a delay, at a scroll depth or on exit intent. Audience rules combine current, initial and referring URLs, country, region or postal code, device, sessions and pageviews with AND/OR logic. Frequency settings, signup limits, schedules by date, weekday and time, and rules based on other displays keep campaigns apart. Wisepops exposes landing, delay, exit, scroll, click, hover and custom-event triggers. Audience controls include regions, traffic source, UTM values, visit history and language. Repeat rules can stop a campaign after signup, click, closure or a display count.

Experiments

Wisepops offers automatic rollout and plan-dependent holdouts. Privy’s display experiments use configured allocations and stopping conditions, with the best conversion rate identified. Privy runs display experiments with a set traffic allocation, stopped after a number of days or participants, and marks the variation with the highest conversion rate. Wisepops lets an experiment allocate traffic, select a success metric and automatically roll out a winning variant. A no-campaign control is documented for specified newer plans, and detailed results have plan restrictions. Confirm those controls in the service proposal.

Email & SMS

Privy’s native Email + SMS product is a central distinction. Wisepops works alongside a sending platform, with onsite feeds and push serving other communication roles. Privy’s Email + SMS plan adds campaigns, segments and flows for welcome, cart, checkout, browse, purchase, winback and back-in-stock journeys, with Yes/No splits, delays and contact updates. Sends are unlimited; the price follows mailable contacts, with 250 SMS credits a month included. Wisepops’ confirmed email workflow sends captured contacts to an email platform. Its onsite feeds and web push are separate channels and do not establish native email broadcasts or welcome sequences.

Team & sites

Privy accounts have Owner and Member roles, and an event history records who did what. Subaccounts let one login manage several stores or brands under one bill, sharing the parent account’s traffic allowance. Wisepops offers Admin access to websites, users and billing, and Editor access limited to selected sites. This distinguishes account administration from work on individual websites. The number of sites and the service responsibilities still belong in the proposal.

Privy’s API manages contacts and ingests order and custom events, but has no display or campaign endpoints. Browser events identify shoppers and update carts. Webhooks deliver signup and order events, while MCP provides account and performance data. Wisepops’ API reads campaign identifiers, activation state and performance counts, and exports contacts. JavaScript callbacks connect popup events to site logic. Webhooks deliver email, phone and survey responses with retries.

Data & reporting

Privy reports display views, signups, orders and revenue attributed to signups, and emails a summary each morning or each Monday. Contacts and a display’s signups export to CSV. Wisepops’ API returns campaign counts and exports contacts. Experiments support order rate and revenue per visitor, with plan-dependent detailed results. Integrations

Privy sends contacts to email and SMS platforms including Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Attentive and Postscript, and to Facebook Custom Audiences. It connects to Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix, WooCommerce and Squarespace stores, review and loyalty apps, Google Analytics, Slack and custom webhooks. A Zapier app is available by invitation. Wisepops connects to Klaviyo and other email providers, including Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign and Brevo, as well as CRMs and SMS platforms. Analytics, Zapier and webhooks support additional routes. Shopify

Privy documents concrete cart, coupon and customer-sync operations. Wisepops adds recommendations and revenue-oriented experiments; those should be compared operation by operation. Privy’s Shopify app syncs products, collections and customers in both directions, tagging new signups. Displays target cart value, products and order count, and store events start flows. Coupons are created as master or unique Shopify codes and can be applied to the cart after signup. Cross Sell displays add a product to the cart from a button. Wisepops has a native Shopify app and markets onsite product recommendations. Its experiment documentation includes Shopify revenue metrics. Installation and recommendations do not by themselves establish every cart action, coupon operation or customer-targeting control in the table.

Pricing

A managed campaign fee and a self-service contact subscription are not like-for-like prices. Compare the required software and production work together. Privy Displays starts at $24 a month for 10,000 pageviews and reaches $168 for 100,000. Email + SMS starts at $30 for 1,500 mailable contacts with unlimited sends, popups included. There is no free plan. Wisepops advertises a managed offer from $599 a month. The final scope and fee need a proposal. That starting figure is not a confirmed price for each traffic, domain and email requirement in our scenario table.

Privy is suited to a store consolidating capture, coupons and email/SMS follow-up. Wisepops is more relevant when an existing stack needs a managed onsite campaign and experimentation program. Their product boundaries explain why the lowest subscription total is not enough to decide between them.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to Privy and Wisepops in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
