Official website

Online stores that want signup popups, discount campaigns, and cart-saving forms, with the option to manage follow-up email in the same product.

Who is this app for?
Stores that want popup capture, customer segmentation and email/SMS follow-up in one platform.
Main advantage
A detailed capture-to-follow-up workflow: cart and purchase targeting, conditional flows, and a read-only MCP for analysing account data.
Main limitation
Email pricing rises with mailable contacts; popup-only pricing rises with site pageviews. The inspected expired trial blocked publishing, and the email draft reported a save error.

Pricing and plans

Displays starts at $24/month for 10,000 site pageviews. The current Email + SMS package starts at $30/month for 1,500 mailable contacts, unlimited email sends and 250 monthly SMS credits. This matches the in-account quote and current billing documentation. The Shopify listing also presents a $45 configuration with 1,250 SMS credits. Popup-only pricing follows traffic, while Email follows contact capacity. An existing email service can make the simpler popup subscription the better choice; unlimited sends do not mean unlimited contacts.

Mailable-contact and pageview growth can trigger an automatic tier increase. Included SMS credits expire after 30 days; paid monthly credits after 60 days. An expired trial stops live displays and flows even when an old display row still says Active.

Features and plan access

The inspected builder combines email and phone steps with mini-quizzes, choice fields, consent and hidden attributes. Use cart value, products, orders, geography and browsing behaviour to choose the audience. Mini-quiz answers map to contact properties; this does not establish a scored quiz or an answer-by-answer recommendation engine.

The broader ecommerce workflow is the main attraction. Flows react to signups, carts, checkout, product views, purchases, restocks and dates, then use conditions, delays, messages and profile updates. Segments combine shopping history, email/SMS engagement, tags and custom fields. Display experiments can end by days or site participants; email and SMS have separate A/B campaign types.

The email editor includes product, coupon, timer and HTML blocks plus Canva import. Reporting offers email, SMS, flow and combined CSV exports, while attribution settings let you control email-open and click windows. The account has no recent campaign activity, and the test email reported a save error: these are inspected controls, not proof of delivery or revenue lift.

Formats & content

A standalone message without a form or action button is not confirmed, so Announcements is not credited. A No Form Display is created by removing the form from a display. It can communicate an offer without collecting an email; announcement bars are also documented.

The gallery includes Announcement and No Form templates, and announcement bars are documented. A saved text-only notice with neither a form nor an action button was not verified, so the stricter Announcements classification remains unconfirmed.

Forms

Privy’s form controls include email capture, SMS capture, phone field, single choice, and multiple choice. A mini-quiz can combine a question, an email step, a phone step and a thank-you page, with buttons that move to a selected step. Build welcome, cart, checkout, browse, purchase, winback, back-in-stock and date-based flows. The draft editor offers Yes/No filters, delays, email, SMS, tags and contact updates.

Surveys

Privy’s feedback formats include quizzes. Mini-quiz templates collect preference answers into a contact property before signup. Choose the response format around the question you want to answer. Gamification

Privy’s game formats include spin the wheel. An email-gated wheel sets a label, coupon, win ratio and result text for each slice; slices can be winning or losing. The game is the way an offer is revealed; prize configuration and the signup flow determine what the visitor actually receives. Compare the available formats, reward controls and repeat-play rules before choosing a mechanic for a promotion.

Support

The plan comparison includes email and live chat support. Connect the Shopify store with discount permissions and verify a sending domain before relying on new discount and email workflows. Consider the support channel alongside the work you expect help with. Access to chat does not by itself promise round-the-clock coverage, a response deadline or someone to build your campaigns. Those service commitments need to be distinguished from ordinary product assistance.

Editor & workflow

Privy’s editing tools include campaign drafts. Displays, flows and email campaigns can be saved as drafts and activated later; live displays can be paused without deletion. Editing, saving a draft and activating a campaign are separate stages of the workflow. Consider how changes are prepared and reviewed before visitors see them. An AI writing assistant also has a narrower role than an assistant that can change layout or targeting.

Works with Shopify

Privy’s Shopify coverage includes storefront installation, native app, products and variants, and collections. Shopify products sync to Privy; Product blocks pull title, description and price into displays and emails. Shopify collections sync to Privy for targeting, segmentation and email content, and can drive flow conditions. Installation, customer data, discounts and cart actions are separate capabilities. A Shopify listing alone does not establish support for all of them, and features supplied by a separate app need to be considered with that app’s access and pricing.

Capability score

The capability score brings together the confirmed features in the sections above, excluding pricing. Each metric belongs to one section, and a feature’s score includes its subfeatures. The breakdown shows how much each area contributes and where points remain unearned. It measures feature coverage, rather than conversion performance or value for money.

AI agent readiness

Agent readiness looks at a complete working process: understanding a campaign, creating or changing it, operating it, reading results and controlling access. This assessment adds context to the Developer section without awarding extra points. In-editor AI assistance and an external agent’s ability to operate the account are considered separately.

Reads account data through MCP

Privy offers an official read-only MCP for account analysis. It helps an assistant understand campaigns and results; creating, editing and publishing popups through it are not supported. No prompt-based design assistant was established in the inspected editors.

Agent taskWhat the agent can do
UnderstandSupportedThe documented MCP reads campaigns, displays, flow triggers and steps, segments, contacts, orders and products. Authenticated retrieval was not tested.
CreateUnconfirmedMCP has no write tools. External popup design, editing and creation were not established.
OperatePartialThe app exposes API Event flow triggers and outgoing webhooks. This does not establish external publish or pause controls.
MeasureSupportedMCP documents campaign and flow performance access. Actual report retrieval and attribution accuracy were not tested.
Work safelyPartialRead-only MCP prevents campaign changes through that connection. OAuth selects a business; UI Event History records operational actions. Fine-grained roles and rollback were not established.

Paid plan required for MCP. Our expired-trial account advertised the connection, but was not connected. Displays, flows and the A/B experiment remain unpublished; no messages were sent.

What one display or signup could cost

At $30.00 per month, the selected plan allocates $0.030 per display and $1.50 per signup across 1,000 displays and 20 valid email signups. The table rounds to cents. The 2% signup rate is an assumption, not measured performance or a vendor charge per event.

The capacity check assumes one site and 250 billable contacts. Billing is based on mailable contacts, which is distinct from the actual outcomes used here. For form-free announcements, compare displays rather than signups. Taxes, separately billed services and customer discounts are excluded.

OutcomeCalculationEstimated cost
One display$30.00 ÷ 1,000$0.03
1,000 displays$30.00 ÷ 1,000 × 1,000$30.00
One signup$30.00 ÷ 20$1.50

Privy alternatives: which should you choose?

Stores that want popup capture, customer segmentation and email/SMS follow-up in one platform. Email pricing rises with mailable contacts; popup-only pricing rises with site pageviews. The inspected expired trial blocked publishing, and the email draft reported a save error.

Compare Omnisend and Poptin against that requirement. The cards below explain where each is a better fit. Match the billing unit, required features and site or account limits before comparing headline prices; the cheapest subscription does not always cover the same work.

Privy vs Omnisend

Privy Email + SMS starts at $30/month for 1,500 mailable contacts, unlimited email sends and 250 SMS credits. Omnisend Standard starts at $16/month for 500 contacts and 6,000 sends. The audience sizes are not equivalent.

Choose Omnisend

Privy vs Poptin

Privy Email + SMS bundles capture with sending. Poptin Basic is a standalone $25/month popup plan for 10,000 visitors on one site; email marketing is a separate choice.

Choose Poptin
When an existing email platform already covers campaigns and automation.
Choose Privy
When one team wants to run both signup campaigns and their email follow-up in Privy.

About this review

We inspected an authenticated account with an expired trial: new and classic display editors, forms, mini-quizzes, a wheel draft, targeting, flows, email design, A/B setup, segments, coupons, integrations, account settings and billing. Test displays, a flow and an experiment remain unpublished. The email editor reported a save error. MCP scope and wheel probability controls are supported by official documentation, not executed tests. No messages, live campaigns, coupons, integrations or MCP connection were activated. Dates beside sources indicate when the corresponding evidence was checked; publication does not imply that every source was rechecked that day.

“Documented” means the provider describes the capability. A named plan is shown only where we recorded tier evidence. “Not confirmed” means the evidence is insufficient, not that the feature is absent. Paid add-ons and higher-tier restrictions are stated separately. Conflicting billing information prevents a unit-cost estimate.

Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and cost. Sources are linked next to the claims they support, and every calculation uses the assumptions above.
