OptiMonk
59.42Online stores combining email capture with product recommendations, discount campaigns, and experiments across multiple onsite campaigns.
- Who is this app for?
- Stores combining email capture, promotions and experiments that want the same popup feature set as traffic grows.
- Main advantage
- The current offer includes all features and no branding even on Free. Upgrading buys traffic, domains and AI credits.
- Main limitation
- Every site page load counts, even when no popup appears. A busy site can consume its allowance with narrowly targeted campaigns.
Pricing and plans
OptiMonk’s plans now differ mainly in traffic, domains and AI credits. A/B testing and branding removal do not require a paid tier. Site page loads count even without a popup. A selectively targeted campaign can therefore use capacity faster than its display count suggests; Free is sufficient while its traffic and domain limits fit.
Monthly starting prices. Campaigns pause at the pageview limit. Annual billing has separate discounted prices.

Features and plan access
OptiMonk combines A/B tests, multi-step forms, product quizzes and recommendations with games, surveys and countdowns. A store can use these tools to capture subscribers, help shoppers choose products or test a promotional message. The current offer includes the feature set and no branding even on Free.
We built a multi-step form and wheel, and saved a no-popup A/B control. A separate Shopify test form blocked empty and malformed email and stored a synthetic response, although first name was required despite an optional-field request. The multi-step editor preview behaved differently and needs its own runtime check. Wheel odds normalize winning slices rather than assigning empty-code sectors a loss probability. The built scratch card supports four weighted prize rows and cover styling, with a prize on every play according to the planner. Essential adds capacity, domains and AI credits.
| Feature | Scope and plan |

Formats & content
We built an inactive notice containing only a heading, paragraph and close control. Desktop and mobile previews had no form or action button. The first concept needed a correction before it matched this brief.
Frequency caps and campaign priority help avoid showing competing messages too often. Scheduling, page targeting and country targeting make notices more selective. Billing still counts site pageviews, including loads without a popup, so narrowing an announcement’s audience does not necessarily lower the allowance it consumes.

Forms
OptiMonk’s form controls include email capture, phone field, single choice, multiple choice, and free text. The visual editor exposes a Phone field with a country selector. This establishes collection controls, not SMS consent or delivery. Radio options expose editable labels and recorded values. The connected field determines the choice type; switching type requires a new element.
| Feature | How it works in OptiMonk |
|---|---|
| Email capture | The inspected email field exposes required-field and error-message settings. A separate Shopify test form rejected empty and malformed email and stored a valid synthetic response in OptiMonk. The earlier multi-step editor preview did not enforce validation.+1 |

Gamification
The inspected wheel has editable prize labels, codes and weights. Its displayed chances normalize winning slices only; empty-code sectors show no winning chance. The scratch editor supports four weighted prize rows and cover styling; the planner says every play wins. The gift format still relies on older documentation.

Experiments
OptiMonk’s testing tools include A/B testing. Popup testing, email testing and automation experiments are separate capabilities. Email & SMS
OptiMonk has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Capturing an address in a popup and sending a marketing campaign are separate jobs. Compare native sending channels, automation and their allowances independently from the popup subscription; an integration with a mailing platform does not include that platform’s sending service.

Team & sites
OptiMonk organizes campaigns, reports and leads by domain workspace. Essential allows two domains, with higher tiers expanding that allowance. This is useful when one operator needs to switch between sites without mixing their campaign views.
The Free account exposes teammate invitations with Member and Owner roles. Its Users screen reserves subscription, billing and usage management for Owners. We did not send invitations or establish seat limits and domain-specific restrictions, so this is not yet evidence of isolated client accounts.

Developer
OptiMonk’s developer interfaces include HTTP API, webhooks, and MCP server. Support
Live chat is included on all OptiMonk plans, including Free. Premium and Master add an account manager, so dedicated account help is a separate consideration from access to chat. Editor & workflow
OptiMonk’s editing tools include free editor, campaign drafts, saved versions, and AI popup assistant. The in-app assistant generates campaign concepts, revises a design on request and changes display settings such as delay and device. Save campaigns as inactive drafts. Editing, saving a draft and activating a campaign are separate stages of the workflow. Consider how changes are prepared and reviewed before visitors see them. An AI writing assistant also has a narrower role than an assistant that can change layout or targeting.

Data & reporting
OptiMonk’s data and reporting tools include field mapping, lead export, revenue goals, and team notifications. Choose destination lists and map signup fields to email or CRM providers. Export leads as CSV or XLSX. Use the reporting workflow to connect captured responses with the decisions you need to make. Downloading leads, scheduling reports and attributing revenue are different capabilities; a contact export alone does not establish an analytics dashboard or revenue measurement.

Integrations
Campaign-specific lists and field mapping connect signups to email, CRM and SMS tools. Supported destinations include Klaviyo, HubSpot and Attentive; webhooks and Zapier support other routes. A saved connection becomes active when the campaign is published, and legacy-provider availability can differ between existing and new accounts.
The provider picker was inspected in a Free account. No destination account was connected and no submission was sent. WooCommerce Customer and Unas also appear; their data mapping was not tested. Our integration guide explains the connection types and workflows. For store-specific features, see our Shopify popup apps overview.

Works with Shopify
OptiMonk’s Shopify coverage includes storefront installation, native app, products and variants, and discounts. Show manually selected products, most-viewed items, recently visited products, cart contents and smart recommendations. Generate unique, single-use codes when displayed, with fixed or relative expiry. Wheel and scratch-card prizes use existing codes. Installation, customer data, discounts and cart actions are separate capabilities. A Shopify listing alone does not establish support for all of them, and features supplied by a separate app need to be considered with that app’s access and pricing.

Capability score
The capability score brings together the confirmed features in the sections above, excluding pricing. Each metric belongs to one section, and a feature’s score includes its subfeatures. The breakdown shows how much each area contributes and where points remain unearned. It measures feature coverage, rather than conversion performance or value for money.

AI agent readiness
Agent readiness looks at a complete working process: understanding a campaign, creating or changing it, operating it, reading results and controlling access. This assessment adds context to the Developer section without awarding extra points. In-editor AI assistance and an external agent’s ability to operate the account are considered separately.
Edits campaign settings and offers MCP
The in-app assistant generated concepts, revised a design and changed our inactive campaign’s delay and device rule. OptiMonk also documents external MCP tools for building and managing campaigns. Our first concept needed correction: it added a button and changed the requested store message.
| Agent task | What the agent can do |
|---|---|
| UnderstandSupported | The MCP reference documents reading campaigns, design threads and delivery settings. External calls have not been tested. |
| CreatePartial | The in-app assistant generated four concepts, revised one and built a form-free announcement with desktop and mobile previews. The first concept included an unwanted action button and invented a documentation-service theme, so the result needed review. |
| OperatePartial | The assistant changed our draft’s delay to ten seconds and restricted that trigger to desktop. MCP documents settings and publishing operations; live publication was not tested. |
| MeasureUnconfirmed | The documented builder MCP has no reporting, lead or submission tools. Dashboard analytics do not establish external-agent access to results. |
| Work safelyPartial | The account exposes separate read and write permissions for builds and campaigns, plus connected-app management. Our test stayed inactive. Permission enforcement and external publication approval were not tested. |
Tested in a Free account. The public offer includes MCP and a monthly AI-credit allowance on Free.
What one display or signup could cost
At $29.00 per month, the selected plan allocates $0.029 per display and $1.45 per signup across 1,000 displays and 20 valid email signups. The table rounds to cents. The 2% signup rate is an assumption, not measured performance or a vendor charge per event.
The capacity check assumes one site and 2,000 pageviews. Billing is based on site pageviews, which is distinct from the actual outcomes used here. For form-free announcements, compare displays rather than signups. Taxes, separately billed services and customer discounts are excluded.
| Outcome | Calculation | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|
| One display | $29.00 ÷ 1,000 | $0.03 |
| 1,000 displays | $29.00 ÷ 1,000 × 1,000 | $29.00 |
| One signup | $29.00 ÷ 20 | $1.45 |
OptiMonk alternatives: which should you choose?
Stores combining email capture, promotions and experiments that want the same popup feature set as traffic grows. Every site page load counts, even when no popup appears. A busy site can consume its allowance with narrowly targeted campaigns.
Compare Getsitecontrol and Claspo against that requirement. The cards below explain where each is a better fit. Match the billing unit, required features and site or account limits before comparing headline prices; the cheapest subscription does not always cover the same work.
OptiMonk vs Getsitecontrol
OptiMonk Essential starts at $29/month for 20,000 pageviews and two domains. Getsitecontrol Pro is $19/month per site for 100,000 actual widget views.
- Choose Getsitecontrol
- For selective notices on sites with many pages viewed but relatively few popup displays.
- Choose OptiMonk
- When two domains and the store-focused campaign workflow fit the budget; Free can cover a small unbranded site.
OptiMonk vs Claspo
Both offer their popup feature sets on Free. OptiMonk currently allows 10,000 pageviews without branding; Claspo’s Shopify free tier allows 3,000 and retains branding.
- Choose Claspo
- When its interactive forms and game formats best match the planned campaign.
- Choose OptiMonk
- For an unbranded small site within the larger free pageview allowance.
About this review
We inspected the Free account’s AI design flow, campaign settings, provider picker, roles, API permissions and billing on October 9, 2026. AI changed a test campaign’s delay and device rule. On October 13 we inspected form, wheel and scratch controls, an A/B holdout, goals, cart rules and webhook setup. On a protected Shopify test store, a separate published form rejected invalid email and stored one synthetic response. It was then switched off. The earlier multi-step editor preview behaved differently. No emails, external provider delivery or MCP calls were tested. Dates beside sources indicate when the corresponding evidence was checked; publication does not imply that every source was rechecked that day.
“Documented” means the provider describes the capability. A named plan is shown only where we recorded tier evidence. “Not confirmed” means the evidence is insufficient, not that the feature is absent. Paid add-ons and higher-tier restrictions are stated separately. Conflicting billing information prevents a unit-cost estimate.
Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and cost. Sources are linked next to the claims they support, and every calculation uses the assumptions above.
