Personizely
16.64Teams that want popup widgets alongside site personalization and broader A/B testing, including page content, Shopify themes, and pricing experiments.
- Who is this app for?
- Teams testing onsite experiences beyond popups, including page content, Shopify themes, prices and personalized messages.
- Main advantage
- Premium combines popup experiments with broader site personalization and covers ten sites at its starting visitor allowance.
- Main limitation
- Essential’s URL and theme tests are not popup A/B tests. Premium is required for that testing scope.
Pricing and plans
Personizely has two plan families, both priced by visitors. Premium changes what you can test as well as how many sites you can connect. First decide whether you need popup testing and personalization or Essential’s narrower testing scope. Then size the visitor allowance; more sites and more visitors are separate parts of the offer.
Monthly prices at 10,000 visitors were checked in account billing. The 14-day trial opened the editor without a payment card in our signup. Trial access does not establish every feature’s paid-plan entitlement.
| Plan | Price & limits | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Essential | $39.00/mo10,000 visitors · 2 sites | URL and theme testing · Unlimited widgets |
| PremiumPapa pick | $59.00/mo10,000 visitors · 10 sites | A/B testing · Personalization · Advanced targeting |
Features and plan access
The trial editor combines multi-step widgets, surveys, custom form fields and a prize wheel with configurable winning weights. Teaser steps and conditional actions support more involved interactions. Shopify cross-sell widgets can promote products, while Premium adds popup A/B testing and personalization. Essential’s URL and theme tests are different experiments and should not be read as the same popup capability.
Choose Premium when comparing widget variants or tailoring onsite experiences is the job. Essential can suit simpler widgets and its own testing scope. Both families scale by visitors, so the feature decision and the required traffic allowance need to be considered separately.

Formats & content
The product documents announcement bars and informational callouts. A plain popup without a form was not sufficiently established by the reviewed sources.
An announcement bar can handle a persistent update, but it does not establish a standalone form-free popup with identical controls. Confirm the exact format and dismissal behaviour before choosing Personizely for simple notices. Premium’s broader testing capabilities are a separate reason to buy, rather than proof of the missing message configuration.

Forms
Personizely’s form controls include email capture, phone field, single choice, multiple choice, and free text. Build widgets with multiple screens. Bouncer is offered for email validation. The useful distinction is between collecting a contact and qualifying it: extra questions, consent and the next step after submission shape the signup flow. Phone-number collection and permission to send marketing messages are separate requirements.

Surveys
Personizely’s feedback formats include quizzes. Build forms and quizzes inside widgets. Choose the response format around the question you want to answer. A recommendation score, a satisfaction rating and a quiz outcome serve different purposes; support for one does not imply the others or an automatic report.

Gamification
Personizely’s game formats include spin the wheel. The Wheel of Fortune editor exposes prize labels, relative weights, retry outcomes and segment automations. The game is the way an offer is revealed; prize configuration and the signup flow determine what the visitor actually receives. Compare the available formats, reward controls and repeat-play rules before choosing a mechanic for a promotion.

Targeting
Personizely’s audience and display controls include page targeting, behavior triggers, click trigger, scheduling, and frequency cap. Triggers include landing, delay, scroll, exit, inactivity, click and hover. Any configured trigger can open the widget. Rules can stop a widget after conversion or pause it for the current session after closing.

Experiments
Personizely’s testing tools include A/B testing. Widget A/B testing requires Premium. Essential includes other testing types. Popup testing, email testing and automation experiments are separate capabilities. A useful comparison also considers traffic allocation, how a winner is selected and whether a no-popup control is available to measure the effect of showing a campaign at all.

Email & SMS
Personizely has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Capturing an address in a popup and sending a marketing campaign are separate jobs. Compare native sending channels, automation and their allowances independently from the popup subscription; an integration with a mailing platform does not include that platform’s sending service.

Team & sites
Personizely provides individual user logins and site workspaces. Admins manage the account, while users can work on widgets without access to account settings. Essential and Premium also differ in the number of sites included at their starting visitor allowance.
This establishes a distinction between widget work and account administration, not every custom permission a larger team might require. For several clients, verify which workspaces each user can access. A ten-site allowance on Premium does not by itself describe the complete client-isolation model.

Developer
Personizely’s developer interfaces include webhooks and MCP server. Work with existing widgets and reports through the official MCP server. The widget automation menu includes Send webhook with a destination URL. The scope of each interface matters more than the API label. Opening an existing popup, sending a submitted form to an endpoint and creating or publishing campaigns are different operations. Agent access depends on those operations and the permissions exposed.

Support
Both Essential and Premium include email and chat support. The plan choice therefore should not be based on unlocking those channels alone. The reviewed evidence does not establish support hours or a guaranteed response time, and we have not tested response quality. Confirm coverage if a site experiment or integration needs assistance at a specific launch time.

Editor & workflow
Personizely has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Editing, saving a draft and activating a campaign are separate stages of the workflow. Consider how changes are prepared and reviewed before visitors see them. An AI writing assistant also has a narrower role than an assistant that can change layout or targeting.

Data & reporting
Personizely has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Use the reporting workflow to connect captured responses with the decisions you need to make. Downloading leads, scheduling reports and attributing revenue are different capabilities; a contact export alone does not establish an analytics dashboard or revenue measurement.

Integrations
The account catalogue covers subscriber delivery, analytics events, session tagging and visitor enrichment. Form automations can send webhooks; Bouncer and reCAPTCHA v3 address validation. Shopify and Wix also offer contact sync. We inspected connection controls, but did not connect providers or test delivery. Choose by the data flow you need, not the number of logos.
The integration catalogue and connection controls were inspected in the trial account. No services were connected or deliveries tested. Minimum plan access and partner subscriptions still need checking for the chosen workflow. Our integration guide explains the connection types and workflows. Works with Shopify
Personizely’s Shopify coverage includes storefront installation, native app, products and variants, and customer synchronization. Promote Shopify products with cross-sell widgets. Synchronize contacts with Shopify. Installation, customer data, discounts and cart actions are separate capabilities. A Shopify listing alone does not establish support for all of them, and features supplied by a separate app need to be considered with that app’s access and pricing.

Capability score
The capability score brings together the confirmed features in the sections above, excluding pricing. Each metric belongs to one section, and a feature’s score includes its subfeatures. The breakdown shows how much each area contributes and where points remain unearned. It measures feature coverage, rather than conversion performance or value for money.

AI agent readiness
Agent readiness looks at a complete working process: understanding a campaign, creating or changing it, operating it, reading results and controlling access. This assessment adds context to the Developer section without awarding extra points. In-editor AI assistance and an external agent’s ability to operate the account are considered separately.
Operates existing widgets through MCP
Personizely has an official MCP server for reading account data, controlling existing widgets and reviewing results. The account exposes API keys and OAuth connections. Creating or redesigning widgets is outside the documented MCP toolset.
| Agent task | What the agent can do |
|---|---|
| UnderstandSupported | MCP documents access to websites, widgets, campaigns, goals and targets. |
| CreateUnconfirmed | The listed MCP tools do not create or edit widget designs. |
| OperateSupported | Write access permits starting and stopping existing widgets and campaigns. |
| MeasureSupported | Agents can retrieve widget, campaign and experiment results. |
| Work safelyPartial | Read-only access and revocation are documented; authorization requires an owner or admin. Approval gates and rollback were not established. |
The API and connected-app screens were inspected in the trial account. MCP capabilities are documented, not execution-tested: no client was connected and no credentials were created.
What one display or signup could cost
At $59.00 per month, the selected plan allocates $0.059 per display and $2.95 per signup across 1,000 displays and 20 valid email signups. The table rounds to cents. The 2% signup rate is an assumption, not measured performance or a vendor charge per event.
The capacity check assumes one site and 1,000 visitors. Billing is based on unique monthly visitors, which is distinct from the actual outcomes used here. For form-free announcements, compare displays rather than signups. Taxes, separately billed services and customer discounts are excluded.
| Outcome | Calculation | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|
| One display | $59.00 ÷ 1,000 | $0.06 |
| 1,000 displays | $59.00 ÷ 1,000 × 1,000 | $59.00 |
| One signup | $59.00 ÷ 20 | $2.95 |
Personizely alternatives: which should you choose?
Teams testing onsite experiences beyond popups, including page content, Shopify themes, prices and personalized messages. Essential’s URL and theme tests are not popup A/B tests. Premium is required for that testing scope.
Compare ConvertFlow and Poptin against that requirement. The cards below explain where each is a better fit. Match the billing unit, required features and site or account limits before comparing headline prices; the cheapest subscription does not always cover the same work.
Personizely vs ConvertFlow
Personizely Premium starts at $59/month for 10,000 visitors and tests widgets and site experiences. ConvertFlow Pro starts at $299/month for 100,000 funnel views across a broader funnel workflow.
- Choose ConvertFlow
- For conditional journeys connecting quizzes, landing pages and popups.
- Choose Personizely
- For experimentation and personalization on an existing site rather than a new funnel stack.
Personizely vs Poptin
Poptin Basic is $25/month for one unbranded site and 10,000 visitors. Personizely Premium starts at $59/month with ten sites and broader testing and personalization.
- Choose Poptin
- For capture and promo popups without a broader site experimentation project.
- Choose Personizely
- When the team will use content, price or widget experiments beyond basic lead capture.
About this review
We inspected the trial account, billing options, widget editor, integration catalogue and API settings. A form, survey and prize wheel were saved in an unpublished draft on example.com. No live campaign, contact delivery or MCP connection was tested. Dates beside sources indicate when the corresponding evidence was checked; publication does not imply that every source was rechecked that day.
“Documented” means the provider describes the capability. A named plan is shown only where we recorded tier evidence. “Not confirmed” means the evidence is insufficient, not that the feature is absent. Paid add-ons and higher-tier restrictions are stated separately. Conflicting billing information prevents a unit-cost estimate.
Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and cost. Sources are linked next to the claims they support, and every calculation uses the assumptions above.
