Poptin

58.34
Official website

Site owners running signup, promotional and form-free popups. Basic covers one unbranded site with 10,000 monthly visitors; Growth combines popups, email and team management with separate visitor and contact limits.

Who is this app for?
Site owners wanting unbranded capture and promo popups, with an upgrade path for agencies managing separate client accounts.
Main advantage
Basic keeps unlimited popups and removes branding for one site. You can expand traffic and sites without changing the basic workflow.
Main limitation
Visitor billing counts people reaching pages with the snippet, even when no popup appears. Growth adds a separate contact allowance, so its lower starting price does not cover every workload.

Pricing and plans

Poptin’s popup-only plans scale by monthly visitors and domains. Free covers 1,000 visitors on one domain; Basic removes branding and raises the allowance to 10,000 visitors. All four tiers allow unlimited popups. Prices below use monthly billing.

The Emails & Poptins bundle is a separate choice. At the 500-contact setting, Growth costs $19/month for 5,000 visitors, unlimited domains and emails, plus account and user management. Basic buys twice the visitor allowance; Growth adds email and team tools at a lower traffic limit.

Features and plan access

Poptin combines signup forms with promotional and interactive popups. Gamification reveals rewards, surveys collect feedback and countdowns highlight deadlines. We created an A/B pair from a completed campaign; visitor allocation and winner selection remain untested. Choose around the outcome you need: signups, sales, feedback or clicks.

Popup and embedded-form editors expose email, phone, message and consent fields, hidden values, email validation and double opt-in. The inspected choice field supports radio buttons or a dropdown with editable answers. Native NPS, rating scales, quiz scoring and conditional form steps were not established; email-automation branching is a separate capability.

The email automation builder supports popup-conversion and subscription triggers, delays, Yes/No branches and updates to contact data. Growth Free lists 250 contacts and 500 emails. We saved and reopened an OFF automation with a Yes/No condition and a one-day delay; the separate campaign wizard stalled at Audience, so campaign setup and sending remain untested. The separate email template editor opened successfully, with reusable blocks, coupons and desktop/mobile controls.

Formats & content

Poptin can promote a sale, launch or delivery notice without collecting an email. In the scratch editor, we built a message with a close control and no form or action button. Sticky top and bottom bars offer another message format.

Slide-in messages keep the notice at the edge of the page; bars provide a persistent strip, and teasers let visitors open the full message themselves. Scheduling sets the dates and time windows for a notice. Page, country, device and trigger controls are listed in Features and plan access.

Billing counts unique monthly visitors to pages with the Poptin snippet, whether or not a popup appears. Views count actual displays, including repeats. A narrowly targeted notice therefore does not make the rest of that tracked traffic free.

Poptin offers account and user management in both Agency and Growth. Agency belongs to the popup-only range; Growth bundles email and starts with a much smaller visitor allowance. Basic remains our pick for one unbranded site needing up to 10,000 visitors.

Published support hours and guaranteed response times have not been established. We have not tested response speed or resolution quality. Integrations

Poptin connects captured contacts to email platforms, CRMs and messaging tools, letting you keep your existing marketing workflow. Its catalogue includes Mailchimp, Klaviyo, HubSpot and Salesforce, with Make and Zapier available for intermediary workflows.

The editor enables lead integrations after you add an input field, and includes a webhook URL option. The public API separately manages contacts, reads popup analytics and can pause or resume existing popups. MCP is still marked Coming soon; the API is the available route for custom agent workflows. Our integration guide explains the connection types and workflows. For store-specific features, see our Shopify popup apps overview.

Works with Shopify

Poptin’s Shopify coverage includes storefront installation, native app, customer data, and events and triggers. Use customer tags, login status and order history. Order-history access requires an upgrade. Use a cart trigger or a follow-up automation after a Shopify purchase. Installation, customer data, discounts and cart actions are separate capabilities. A Shopify listing alone does not establish support for all of them, and features supplied by a separate app need to be considered with that app’s access and pricing.

Capability score

The capability score brings together the confirmed features in the sections above, excluding pricing. Each metric belongs to one section, and a feature’s score includes its subfeatures. The breakdown shows how much each area contributes and where points remain unearned. It measures feature coverage, rather than conversion performance or value for money.

AI agent readiness

Agent readiness looks at a complete working process: understanding a campaign, creating or changing it, operating it, reading results and controlling access. This assessment adds context to the Developer section without awarding extra points. In-editor AI assistance and an external agent’s ability to operate the account are considered separately.

Operates existing popups

An agent can inspect performance and pause or resume an existing popup through the API. Building a new popup or changing its design is not established by the current reference.

Agent taskWhat the agent can do
UnderstandPartialRead popup configuration and account objects. Plan limits and permission discovery are not established.
CreateUnconfirmedNo documented operation for creating a popup or editing its design and targeting.
OperatePartialPause and resume existing popups. Resume rejects drafts; it cannot publish a new one.
MeasureSupportedRetrieve popup analytics, conversions and aggregate metrics, including A/B variants.
Work safelyPartialKeys are bound to an account or subaccount and can be revoked. There is no isolated sandbox. Per-operation permissions, approval controls and design rollback were not established.

The account pricing lists API access on Free and paid plans. The editor exposes outgoing webhooks. API operations are documentation-based; authenticated requests and webhook delivery were not tested. An in-app generative AI assistant was not established in the inspected popup and form editors.

What one display or signup could cost

At $25 per month, Basic allocates $0.025 per display and $1.25 per signup across 1,000 displays and 20 valid email signups. The table rounds to cents. The 2% signup rate is an assumption, not measured Poptin performance or a vendor charge per event.

This example assumes one domain and 1,000 visitors, within Basic’s 10,000-visitor limit. Actual displays determine the allocated cost; the plan’s maximum allowance does not. For form-free announcements, compare cost per display instead of signups. Taxes, separate email services and customer discounts are excluded.

OutcomeCalculationEstimated cost
One display$25.00 ÷ 1,000$0.03
1,000 displays$25.00 ÷ 1,000 × 1,000$25.00
One signup$25.00 ÷ 20$1.25

Poptin alternatives: which should you choose?

Compare Poptin on campaign cost and site management. Basic suits one unbranded site; client subaccounts or selective announcements on a busy site can change which tool offers better value.

The comparisons below explain when to choose each product. Match the billing unit, site allowance and access requirements: a lower subscription with a different traffic counter is not automatically cheaper for the same campaign.

Poptin vs Getsitecontrol

Poptin Basic counts 10,000 visitors for $25/month. Getsitecontrol Pro counts 100,000 widget displays for $19/month per site; the latter does not charge each unexposed pageview as a display.

Poptin vs Omnisend

Poptin Basic is $25/month for popup-only use. Its Growth bundle offers 500 contacts, unlimited emails and 5,000 visitors for $19/month. Omnisend Standard starts at $16/month for 500 contacts and 6,000 emails.

About this review

We extended the Growth Free account check on October 12, 2026: all three game editors, an embedded form, popup fields and display rules, integrations, coupons, reports, pricing, user access and an OFF email automation. The campaign Audience step remained blank after reloading. On October 13 we saved and reopened an OFF automation branch and delay, inspected coupon setup and Shopify targeting, and created an A/B pair. Both test campaigns were temporarily activated on a protected Shopify store and then switched off. No popup appeared; the browser blocked the direct-launch address, leaving runtime and delivery unverified. No emails or authenticated API requests were sent. Dates beside sources indicate when the corresponding evidence was checked; publication does not imply that every source was rechecked that day.

“Documented” means the provider describes the capability. A named plan is shown only where we recorded tier evidence. “Not confirmed” means the evidence is insufficient, not that the feature is absent. Paid add-ons and higher-tier restrictions are stated separately. Conflicting billing information prevents a unit-cost estimate.

Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and cost. Sources are linked next to the claims they support, and every calculation uses the assumptions above.
