SmashPops
34.41A seasonal scratch card can collect an email, reveal a prize and prevent the same address from entering another promotion. The rules for displaying the card and awarding the prize are set independently.
- Who is this app for?
- Stores running prize campaigns that need to limit how often one email address can win.
- Main advantage
- Six games share controls for coupon offers, eligibility and repeat participation.
- Main limitation
- The repeat-display setting and the repeat-email rule are separate. A shopper may see a game again but be ineligible to enter with the same address.
Pricing and plans
Basic covers 5,000 displays for $9 a month. Free includes the game mechanics and 100 displays, enough to try the reward and signup experience on a single page. A returning visitor who sees the game again can consume another display.
Shopify lists monthly prices in USD. The dashboard counts displays across games. The vendor offers larger allowances by enquiry.
| Plan | Price & limits | What changes |

Features and plan access
In our storefront test, scratching the ticket revealed the configured code. Entering the same address again produced a duplicate-email message. Each reward has a label, a code and a weight. Changing the label alone will not create the corresponding Shopify discount. Use an existing Shopify code or configure automatic generation before launching.
For a series of seasonal promotions, choose whether one email can play repeatedly, once in each game or once across all games. Then set how often returning visitors see the invitation and whether it stays visible after participation.

Formats & content
The teaser opens a game, and the reminder bar displays its reward. Support for a separate information-only popup is unconfirmed. The teaser brings a visitor back to the game. A coupon reminder can remain visible after the reward is revealed. Match the format to the message: a persistent notice, an edge-of-page promotion and a central popup occupy different amounts of attention. Display conditions and billing limits still matter when a campaign contains no signup form.

Forms
SmashPops’s form controls include email capture, SMS capture, and validation. Limit repeat entries by email within one game or across all games. The vendor also describes filtering junk addresses. Collect the player’s email before revealing the scratch reward. The useful distinction is between collecting a contact and qualifying it: extra questions, consent and the next step after submission shape the signup flow. Phone-number collection and permission to send marketing messages are separate requirements.

Surveys
SmashPops has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Choose the response format around the question you want to answer. Gamification

Experiments
SmashPops has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Popup testing, email testing and automation experiments are separate capabilities. A useful comparison also considers traffic allocation, how a winner is selected and whether a no-popup control is available to measure the effect of showing a campaign at all.

Email & SMS
SmashPops has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. Capturing an address in a popup and sending a marketing campaign are separate jobs. Compare native sending channels, automation and their allowances independently from the popup subscription; an integration with a mailing platform does not include that platform’s sending service.

Team & sites
A game can be exported to another account. For client work, distinguish transferring the design from granting someone access to the original store’s leads. Separate access to the account from permission to change or publish campaigns. For a team managing several sites, the useful questions are which sites each person can work on, who controls billing and whether each site needs its own subscription.

Developer
SmashPops has no confirmed capabilities in this section in the current review. The scope of each interface matters more than the API label. Opening an existing popup, sending a submitted form to an endpoint and creating or publishing campaigns are different operations. Agent access depends on those operations and the permissions exposed.

Support
The dashboard has a Support entry and the vendor publishes setup guides for rewards and integrations. Consider the support channel alongside the work you expect help with. Access to chat does not by itself promise round-the-clock coverage, a response deadline or someone to build your campaigns. Those service commitments need to be distinguished from ordinary product assistance.

Editor & workflow
SmashPops’s editing tools include free editor and campaign drafts. Save a game before activating its storefront display. Create and save a game within the free display allowance. Editing, saving a draft and activating a campaign are separate stages of the workflow. Consider how changes are prepared and reviewed before visitors see them. An AI writing assistant also has a narrower role than an assistant that can change layout or targeting.

Data & reporting
SmashPops’s data and reporting tools include field mapping, lead export, and revenue goals. Assign coupon code and coupon name to separate Omnisend contact properties. Download captured addresses as CSV. Use the reporting workflow to connect captured responses with the decisions you need to make. Downloading leads, scheduling reports and attributing revenue are different capabilities; a contact export alone does not establish an analytics dashboard or revenue measurement.

For reward email, the merchant can assign delivery to the connected email provider. The game can also reveal the code immediately on its win screen. Our integration guide explains the connection types and workflows. For store-specific features, see our Shopify popup apps overview.

Works with Shopify
SmashPops’s Shopify coverage includes storefront installation, native app, discounts, and customer synchronization. Use existing Shopify codes or configure unique coupons, including percentage, fixed or buy-X-get-Y rewards. Shopify Customers can be removed independently from the internal player list for a game. Installation, customer data, discounts and cart actions are separate capabilities. A Shopify listing alone does not establish support for all of them, and features supplied by a separate app need to be considered with that app’s access and pricing.

Capability score
The capability score brings together the confirmed features in the sections above, excluding pricing. Each metric belongs to one section, and a feature’s score includes its subfeatures. The breakdown shows how much each area contributes and where points remain unearned. It measures feature coverage, rather than conversion performance or value for money.

AI agent readiness
Agent readiness looks at a complete working process: understanding a campaign, creating or changing it, operating it, reading results and controlling access. This assessment adds context to the Developer section without awarding extra points. In-editor AI assistance and an external agent’s ability to operate the account are considered separately.
Game callbacks
A storefront developer can react to a win through a JavaScript callback. External authoring, a public campaign HTTP API and a vendor MCP server are unconfirmed.
| Agent task | What the agent can do |
|---|---|
| React to a game winSupported | Call a function already defined on the host page. |
| Create or edit games externallyUnconfirmed | The public setup material describes the dashboard builder. |
A developer supplies the callback on the website and names it in the game settings.
What one view, action or submission could cost
A view is a visible widget display. An action is a target-link visit, coupon copy, add-to-cart or standalone consent. A submission sends form data, such as an email, phone number, enquiry or feedback. Submitting a form is not also counted as an action. These estimates do not establish that a plan supports every outcome.
At $9.00 per month, the selected plan allocates $0.009 per display, $0.18 per action and $0.45 per submission across 1,000 displays. The table rounds to cents. The 5% action and 2% submission rates are alternative assumptions, not measured performance or a vendor charge per event.
The capacity check assumes one site and 1,000 actual widget displays. Billing is based on monthly popup displays, which is distinct from the actual outcomes used here. For form-free announcements, compare views or actions rather than submissions. Taxes, separately billed services and customer discounts are excluded.
| Outcome | Calculation | Estimated cost |
|---|---|---|
| One display | $9.00 ÷ 1,000 | $0.01 |
| 1,000 displays | $9.00 ÷ 1,000 × 1,000 | $9.00 |
| One action | $9.00 ÷ 50 | $0.18 |
| One submission | $9.00 ÷ 20 | $0.45 |
SmashPops alternatives: which should you choose?

About this review
We played a scratch game on the Shopify storefront, revealed a test code and entered the same email a second time. The game rejected the second entry. Dates beside sources indicate when the corresponding evidence was checked; publication does not imply that every source was rechecked that day.
“Documented” means the provider describes the capability. A named plan is shown only where we recorded tier evidence. “Not confirmed” means the evidence is insufficient, not that the feature is absent. Paid add-ons and higher-tier restrictions are stated separately. Conflicting billing information prevents a unit-cost estimate.
Recommendations are editorial judgments about fit and cost. Sources are linked next to the claims they support, and every calculation uses the assumptions above.
