SmashPops vs Sleeknote.
One entry today or a reason to return tomorrow?

Compare SmashPops and Sleeknote for Shopify giveaways, returning visitors, advent calendars, reward fields and the real cost of a game package.

What do you need your website to do next?

A once-per-person giveaway and an advent calendar have opposite definitions of success. The giveaway must stop the same address from winning again. The calendar needs yesterday’s participant to come back and find the appropriate reward today.

SmashPops let us reopen a game after winning while rejecting the second entry. Sleeknote’s Games package includes calendars and daily offers. Start with the promotion calendar, including the day after a visitor misses a turn.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Round 019 points

Formats & content

A teaser invites the visitor back to the game, and a reminder bar can keep the reward visible afterwards. They serve different moments in the same promotion. Sleeknote separates desktop and mobile campaign designs and display settings. Teasers provide another entry point; on mobile, enabling a teaser replaces the usual opening triggers.

Forms

The scratch template asks for a name and email. The data-collection panel controls whether the same email can enter again in one game or across all games. Sleeknote has phone and SMS elements, short and long text fields, radios, dropdowns, answer buttons and consent checkboxes. Campaigns can span several steps. Its paid Quiz format maps combinations of answers to personalised outcomes and sends the answer values to an email platform or CSV. Phone fields support format checks and accepted-country restrictions.

Surveys

Players reveal offers rather than report satisfaction. A prize choice should only enter customer research as a preference when the visitor actually answered a preference question. Sleeknote’s quizzes map combinations of answers to personalised outcomes and can send those answers to an email platform or CSV. Quizzes belong to the Gamification package; individual rating formats are checked separately.

Gamification

For a once-only prize, compare the play screen, expiry and duplicate policy. For a daily offer, try a returning player before and after the scheduled change in the site’s operating timezone. The gallery offers wheel, scratch ticket, gift, slot machine, Card Dance and claw formats. In the scratch editor the prize table shows both the assigned weight and the resulting percentage.

Sleeknote’s Gamification package includes wheels, scratch cards, seasonal calendars, quizzes and Learn to Earn. Wheel prizes have relative probabilities and configurable losing outcomes. Calendar doors have their own dates and content. Learn to Earn combines lessons, questions and staged rewards, with coupon lists for individual lessons.

Targeting

SmashPops separates redisplay rules from an email’s right to win. In Sleeknote coordinate the calendar with regular campaigns and their display order, especially if the shop also has a newsletter invitation. Campaigns can include or exclude URL paths, distinguish devices and referrers, and use a delay, scroll depth or exit. Redisplay and repeat prize eligibility have separate settings. Sleeknote combines page and device filters with location, referral, UTM, cookies and new-visitor rules. Triggers include time, scroll, exit intent, click and SiteData. Per-campaign limits, a domain-level impression limit and Campaign order coordinate several campaigns.

Experiments

The vendor describes an alternative to native A/B testing. Separate game reports alone do not demonstrate random allocation of visitors. Sleeknote includes popup split testing in Core. A test compares two campaigns with traffic allocation starting at 50/50. Saving a test and activating it are separate actions, so the setup can be reviewed before it starts.

Email & SMS

Link a game to an email provider and map the reward code if that provider will send the prize. The game can also reveal the code on its win screen. Sleeknote’s documented workflow sends captured leads and their answers to a connected email platform. That platform handles the welcome email, subsequent messages and its own sending bill. Native email sending is unconfirmed in this comparison.

Team & sites

A single Shopify brand can keep the scratch promotion small. Sleeknote’s multi-domain setup is worth weighing when several country sites share a marketing calendar and different people edit offers. Exporting a game to another account can help an agency reuse a design. Check separately how a client accesses player data and who may change live rewards. Sleeknote supports additional users and super users, with billing restricted to the main owner. Core includes unlimited domains and account settings provide site profiles. The subscription scales with traffic rather than adding a base fee for every domain.

Developer

A game can call a JavaScript function defined on the host site when somebody wins. This gives analytics a signal without requiring the developer to infer a win from a pageview. Sleeknote’s browser trigger opens an existing campaign, and Custom Integration sends submissions to an endpoint. Data & reporting

The dashboard separates displays, collected emails, conversion rate and sales from coupons. In our test the same address tried twice and the game recorded one email. Sleeknote reports views, leads and conversion rates with device, source and location breakdowns. Its Shopify connection adds purchase and revenue tracking. Lead and quiz data can be downloaded, and the read-only MCP makes campaign and split-test results available to an external assistant.

Integrations

A saved provider connection is linked to each game. Omnisend can receive a game tag and distinct properties for the code and its name. Shopify Customers can be removed separately. Sleeknote connects to email platforms including Klaviyo, Mailchimp and ActiveCampaign, plus HubSpot and Salesforce, Google Analytics, Segment and Zapier. Custom Integration sends submissions through POST, JSON POST or GET, with Basic Authentication available. Quiz fields can carry destination names and answer values.

MailerLite: Choose the Classic or New connector for the receiving account, then link it under Data collection for the game. Klaviyo, Mailchimp: Connect the provider to the game and pass the reward code to the customer record. The provider can then send the prize email. Omnisend: Set a game-specific tag and map the coupon name and code to custom properties for the reward message. AWeber, ActiveCampaign, Drip: SmashPops lists subscriber integrations with these providers. Account-specific field mappings vary by destination.

ActiveCampaign: Connect with the API URL and key, choose a list and map campaign fields. Additional options send custom data and enable the list’s autoresponder; multistep campaigns are supported. Drip: Send campaign signups to Drip with tags, custom fields and a submission event for follow-up workflows. The connector also exposes double opt-in and additional data such as the signup page. Rule.io, Peytz Mail, Voyado, Agillic, Apsis, Apsis One, MarketingPlatform, Ubivox, SmartWeb, HeyLoyalty, Marketing Cloud, Emarsys: Connect captured leads to the listed destination. CleverReach: Configure the CleverReach REST API connection in the campaign builder, choose the receiving list and map the campaign inputs to CleverReach fields. Save the integration and then the campaign itself. Check the mapped answer on a recipient in the selected group. Dotdigital: Select Dotdigital at the integration step of the Sleeknote campaign builder. Sleeknote lists a dedicated ESP connection for delivering signups. If a follow-up depends on a marketing preference or consent record, verify that specific value in Dotdigital; the ESP index does not specify those outputs. Campaign Monitor: Enter the Campaign Monitor API key and list ID at the campaign’s integration step. Map form inputs to Campaign Monitor fields; the additional options also accept custom data. This route supports multistep campaigns when the answers need to stay attached to one subscriber. Mailchimp: Connect with an API key, select an audience and map the form fields. Options include custom data, double opt-in and welcome emails; multistep campaigns are supported. Klaviyo: Choose a Klaviyo list, map campaign inputs and enter exact custom-property names. Additional options send custom data; multistep campaigns are supported.

Pricing

SmashPops includes game formats within display tiers. Sleeknote Core covers ordinary campaigns and tests, with Games priced separately. Ask for the package and traffic allowance together before comparing a seasonal month. Free includes 100 monthly displays. Basic costs $9 for 5,000. A busy game shown repeatedly can consume more displays than the number of people who play.

Sleeknote’s current pricing page lists Core at €62 per month for up to 25,000 visitors, or €85 with Gamification. The 50,000-visitor bracket is €74 for Core. Annual billing has a lower monthly equivalent and requires an annual commitment. All these plans include unlimited domains.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to SmashPops and Sleeknote in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
