Getsitecontrol vs Privy.
Flexible website forms or a store marketing suite?

Compare Getsitecontrol and Privy for forms, Shopify campaigns, email automation, games and team access, including display capacity and sending costs.

What do you need your website to do next?

Getsitecontrol and Privy both combine onsite campaigns with email, but their centres of gravity differ. Getsitecontrol serves general website forms, feedback and announcements alongside store campaigns. Privy is closely organised around ecommerce capture, customer offers and ongoing email or SMS marketing.

The distinction is visible in the visitor journey. Getsitecontrol can branch a form around an answer or collect a rating. Privy can connect a display to Shopify products, cart activity and customer history, then continue the relationship through its messaging package.

Both also offer a popup-only buying decision. Getsitecontrol separates email credits from the site subscription; Privy has Displays and Email + SMS offers with different counters. The rounds below compare the tools first, then the plans needed for concrete workloads.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

Getsitecontrol builds standalone notices, slide-ins and bars, with teasers, countdowns and dynamic text. Desktop and mobile styles can be adjusted separately. Privy uses onsite displays to capture subscribers and present offers. The table separates individual display formats and content controls from the email workflows that follow a signup.

Forms

Getsitecontrol offers more answer-driven form flexibility and rating inputs. Privy’s duplicate-signup controls, reCAPTCHA and preference steps are closely tied to building a store’s subscriber list. Getsitecontrol collects email, phone, text, single-choice and multiple-choice answers. It adds star, NPS, emoji and binary ratings, hidden values and consent checkboxes. Conditional fields and page branching tailor the next question to an earlier answer. Double opt-in verifies email ownership, while reCAPTCHA screens suspicious submissions.

Privy collects email, phone, text, date, radio, dropdown and checkbox fields, with separate email and text opt-in fields. Hidden attributes record UTM values or custom data, and Mini Quiz steps store a preference answer on the contact. Double opt-in, one-signup-per-contact rules and invisible reCAPTCHA protect the list.

Gamification

Getsitecontrol offers more compact game formats than a wheel alone. Privy’s Spin to Win provides configurable slices and losing outcomes within its store-capture workflow. Getsitecontrol offers a prize wheel, a scratch card and a tap-to-reveal card. Prize settings include codes and relative weights, with replay controls. The wheel adds spin duration and a pause after spinning; the scratch card sets how much of the cover must be removed. Privy’s Spin to Win sets a label, coupon, win ratio and result text for each slice, and slices can be winning or losing. The wheel can sit behind an email step, with desktop and mobile tabs to reopen it.

Targeting

Both combine page, audience and timing conditions. Privy’s display-to-display rules help coordinate store promotions; Getsitecontrol pairs audience targeting with conditional questions. Getsitecontrol combines page, device, location, referral and visitor conditions, including Shopify cart data. Widgets can open after a delay, on scroll or on exit intent. Repeat-display settings respond to a view, closure or action; schedules use dates, hours and weekdays.

Privy opens displays on page load, after a delay, at a scroll depth or on exit intent. Audience rules combine current, initial and referring URLs, country, region or postal code, device, sessions and pageviews with AND/OR logic. Frequency settings, signup limits, schedules by date, weekday and time, and rules based on other displays keep campaigns apart.

Experiments

Both test popup variants. Privy exposes traffic and stopping settings; Getsitecontrol’s widget tests end manually, independently of its email-broadcast testing. Getsitecontrol Pro runs widget A/B tests with random visitor assignment and reports views, actions and click-through rate for each variant. Tests end manually. Its separate email-broadcast testing can select a winning email, which does not establish an automatic winner for popup tests. Privy runs display experiments with a set traffic allocation, stopped after a number of days or participants, and marks the variation with the highest conversion rate.

Email & SMS

Both can send the welcome sequence. Privy bundles unlimited email sends into its contact-priced offer; Getsitecontrol bills email credits separately from widget capacity. Getsitecontrol has its own email editor, broadcasts, contact segments and automations. A form submission can start a welcome sequence; workflows can add delays, apply conditions and respond to contact or store events. Email sends are billed as credits separately from widget views.

Privy’s Email + SMS plan adds campaigns, segments and flows for welcome, cart, checkout, browse, purchase, winback and back-in-stock journeys, with Yes/No splits, delays and contact updates. Sends are unlimited; the price follows mailable contacts, with 250 SMS credits a month included.

Team & sites

Getsitecontrol gives more granular access by work area. Privy’s subaccounts share the parent traffic allowance, which is a different arrangement from separate site subscriptions. Getsitecontrol assigns None, View, Edit or Full access separately to widgets, emails and contacts on each site. Edit allows drafting; Full adds actions such as activation, sending or exports. Account admins can manage billing, sites and users, while only the owner can delete the account. Sites have separate subscriptions. Privy accounts have Owner and Member roles, and an event history records who did what. Subaccounts let one login manage several stores or brands under one bill, sharing the parent account’s traffic allowance.

Developer

Getsitecontrol provides browser hooks for widget actions and webhooks for captured data. These connections are separate from the assistant inside the editor. Privy’s API manages contacts and ingests order and custom events, but has no display or campaign endpoints. Browser events identify shoppers and update carts. Webhooks deliver signup and order events, while MCP provides account and performance data.

Both provide direct support channels. This is product assistance, not a reason to assume that either base subscription includes ongoing campaign production. Getsitecontrol includes live chat on all plans, including Free. Product support covers the widget and email platform; the subscription remains a self-service product rather than a campaign-production retainer. Privy lists email and live chat support on its plans.

Privy links display signups with orders and attributed revenue. Getsitecontrol provides audience and page breakdowns for widget interactions plus separate email reporting. Getsitecontrol reports widget views, actions and click-through rates, with breakdowns by page, traffic source, country and device. Responses and contacts can be exported. Email campaigns have their own delivery and engagement reporting. Privy reports display views, signups, orders and revenue attributed to signups, and emails a summary each morning or each Monday. Integrations

Both can send contacts to another platform. Privy also connects with ecommerce review and loyalty tools; Getsitecontrol supports a wider general-form workflow through explicit mapping. Getsitecontrol connects forms to email services, CRM destinations, Google Sheets, Zapier and analytics. Field mapping passes form, system and static values to the destination. Webhooks provide another route for submissions, and its own contact list can power native email campaigns.

Privy sends contacts to email and SMS platforms including Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Attentive and Postscript, and to Facebook Custom Audiences. It connects to Shopify, BigCommerce, Wix, WooCommerce and Squarespace stores, review and loyalty apps, Google Analytics, Slack and custom webhooks. A Zapier app is available by invitation.

Shopify

Privy has a particularly integrated store workflow for products, customer records and discounts. Getsitecontrol also acts on the cart, while its separate Shopify companion app must not be conflated with the main product. Getsitecontrol uses Shopify cart and customer parameters in targeting, and widget buttons can add a product to the cart or apply a discount. The main GSC Email Marketing + Popups app also connects store events to email workflows. The separate GSC Popup, Email Pop Up app carries the Built for Shopify badge and supports Shopify Flow; neither earns points for Getsitecontrol.

Privy’s Shopify app syncs products, collections and customers in both directions, tagging new signups. Displays target cart value, products and order count, and store events start flows. Coupons are created as master or unique Shopify codes and can be applied to the cart after signup. Cross Sell displays add a product to the cart from a button.

Pricing

Compare the whole workflow: Privy’s contact package can suit frequent sending, while Getsitecontrol separates site traffic from email volume. Displays-only pricing answers a different requirement. Getsitecontrol Free includes 10,000 widget views per month. Pro costs $19 per month per site for 100,000 views; Pro Max costs $29 for unlimited views. Email credits are separate, so a popup-only bill and a popup-plus-email bill are different calculations. Privy Displays starts at $24 a month for 10,000 pageviews and reaches $168 for 100,000. Email + SMS starts at $30 for 1,500 mailable contacts with unlimited sends, popups included. There is no free plan.

Getsitecontrol suits a broader website brief involving feedback, conditional forms and controlled access to content or contacts. Privy is a natural fit when Shopify capture and frequent email follow-up belong to one store-marketing programme. Compare Privy’s contact-based package against Getsitecontrol’s site and sending costs rather than assuming all popup traffic creates the same bill.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to Getsitecontrol and Privy in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
