Personizely vs Poper.
What should a returning subscriber see?

Compare Personizely and Poper for subscriber recognition, survey responses, seasonal games and multi-site access.

What do you need your website to do next?

A store runs a preference survey before launching a seasonal collection. One team wants the answer to change the next visit. Another wants to build an interactive promotion for each launch and pass the answers to the email team. Both need a survey; they need different things after it closes.

Personizely stores visitor properties and can use them in later widgets. Poper offers survey and game builders plus destination-specific field mapping. For a Moosend campaign, for example, Poper’s field selection helps the mailing team, while Personizely also documents identifying a returning subscriber through an email link.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

Personizely offers popups, compact callouts, bars and embedded widgets. A coupon can be copied with a click, and text can use a visitor property with a fallback for anonymous traffic. Poper has separate editors for popups, forms, games, quizzes and surveys. The choice of campaign type determines where the team will maintain the design.

Forms

A widget can collect a phone number, free text, single or multiple selections and separate consent choices. Responses are stored on visitor profiles, where a later submission may update a previous answer. Poper forms support choice, text, phone, hidden inputs and consent. A conditional path can require a higher plan.

Surveys

Decide whether the report should count every rating or only identified customers. In Personizely, a contact export requires contact details. In Poper, specify the survey and branching package before designing a follow-up for low scores. Personizely supports NPS survey popups and preference questions. The widget contact export includes respondents who supplied an email or phone. It can therefore contain fewer rows than an anonymous survey received. Poper’s survey suite includes NPS and other rating formats. Business lists surveys and branching.

Gamification

A Personizely wheel can send each segment to its own reward step. Poper’s Plinko editor assigns prizes and probabilities to slots. Pick the mechanic the fulfilment team can actually honour. The prize wheel has weighted segments, retry and no-prize outcomes. Each segment can open a different reward step or start an automation. Poper’s game catalogue includes Plinko with slot-specific prizes, win probabilities and a losing outcome.

Experiments

Premium includes A/B testing of widgets. Essential includes other kinds of website tests, so access to a theme or URL test alone does not establish that a popup can be split-tested on that tier. Poper includes A/B testing on Pro. Choose an outcome both variations can produce, such as an accepted subscription.

Email & SMS

A form can write contact and consent fields to a visitor profile and send the contact to a connected email platform. The welcome sequence depends on how that destination uses the fields. Poper can collect subscribers for a connected email provider. Include the sender in the budget for a mailing programme.

Developer

Personizely documents operations to start or stop existing widgets. Poper’s MCP server reads campaigns, responses and analytics. A reporting integration and an emergency stop button need different access. REST and MCP can read experiment results and start or stop an existing widget. OAuth permits read-only access. An account API key also permits start and stop across websites, so the credential type matters for a reporting integration. Poper documents REST and MCP access for reading campaigns, leads and analytics. Browser events can trigger site code, and webhooks can deliver submissions to a server.

Editor & workflow

The editor lets a team compose a widget from steps and elements, then attach conditional actions to visitor interactions. Existing widgets can be operated externally, while their design is edited in the dashboard. Poper can generate a draft popup from a prompt. Data & reporting

A widget report can distinguish views, submissions, contacts and revenue. A returning contact who submits an updated answer is a submission but does not become a new contact a second time. Integrations

Form and survey answers can update profile fields. Widget automations can send a webhook or act on a connected marketing list when a particular visitor interaction occurs. Poper connects individual popups to email services and CRMs. Available fields depend on the connector, and webhook access can require an upgrade.

Kit, Brevo, Omnisend, MailerLite, ActiveCampaign, Sender, Ometria, Zoho Marketing Automation: Use a form automation to send widget subscribers to the connected email platform. Ontraport: Personizely lists Ontraport for subscribers acquired through its list-building widgets. Connect the destination and inspect the receiving contact after a form submission. Its public listing does not establish a campaign-enrolment action or a mapping for a particular custom field. CM Commerce: Personizely lists CM Commerce separately as a destination for email subscribers from its popups. Check the actual subscriber list in the commerce account. The vendor listing confirms list growth; supported custom fields and the authentication steps are unspecified. CleverReach: Authorize CleverReach under Settings → Integrations and add the list action to the widget’s subscription form. For recognizing a subscriber who clicks back to the site, Personizely also documents adding a subscriber identifier to mailing links. Check the form action and returning-visitor setup separately. Dotdigital: Connect Dotdigital in Personizely and map the contact fields used by the widget. For recognition on a later visit, Personizely documents adding the Dotdigital contact ID parameter to links in outbound email. A new signup and a click back from a mailing are separate exchanges. Moosend: Connect Moosend in Personizely, then assign the list to the widget’s subscription form. Personizely also documents identifying a returning subscriber from an email link. Sending a new address to a list and recognizing the same reader later require separate setup. SendPulse: Use the SendPulse API ID and secret in Personizely’s integration settings. Edit the widget form and choose the destination list for the subscription action. Authorizing the account and assigning that action to a form are separate steps. SmartrMail: Connect a SmartrMail API token and select the destination list in the widget’s subscription action. Personizely recommends a manually created list for popup signups, separate from the customer list populated by the ecommerce integration. Mailjet: Enter the API key and secret for the correct Mailjet account in Personizely. Assign the selected list to the widget form. Personizely notes that the list label it shows can come from the first part of the email associated with the list. Sendlane: Connect a Sendlane API token, map Personizely custom fields and assign an action to the widget form. The available actions include adding a contact to a list and unsubscribing from a list. Inspect the action on a copied form before publishing it. iContact: Personizely lists iContact as a destination for its list-building widgets. Assign the receiving integration to the signup form and verify the address on the intended iContact list. The provider’s listing does not spell out a mapping for additional fields. GetResponse: Authorize GetResponse from Personizely’s integration settings, then add the GetResponse list action to the subscription form in the widget. That action determines where the new email address lands. The guide confirms list delivery but leaves autoresponder cycle-day handling open. AWeber: Connect the AWeber account in Settings → Integrations, authorize access, then select the AWeber action and list on the widget’s subscription form. The documented outcome is a subscriber on that list. Verify tags separately if the first message depends on one. SendGrid: Connect SendGrid using an API key in Personizely settings, then configure the SendGrid action on the widget’s subscription form and choose the list. This sends signup addresses to Marketing Contacts. Check any additional profile attributes on the receiving contact. Constant Contact: Authorize Constant Contact in Settings → Integrations, then edit the subscription form in the widget and select its action and destination list. Authorization alone does not assign the list. The guide demonstrates adding new contacts and leaves extra field mapping unspecified. Campaign Monitor: Authorize Campaign Monitor in the account integration settings, then select the list in the widget’s subscription form action. New subscribers are added to that list. Confirm the selected client and list for each widget when an agency manages several accounts. Mailchimp: Add a Mailchimp form automation, select a list and map fields explicitly. Choose Add to list for single opt-in or Add with confirmation for double opt-in. Unmapped values are not sent. Klaviyo: Form automation sends standard fields and custom properties. Subscribe to list records consent; Add to list does not. Confirmation follows list settings, and SMS needs form consent.

Map the form values before saving. Test the address in the intended publication, especially after duplicating a popup to promote a second newsletter from the same account. Customer.io: Connect the Customer.io Site ID and API key in Poper, then match the form inputs to Customer.io attributes. Use an existing attribute key if a journey or segment already reads it. Verify the identity of a returning person before sending another offer. EmailOctopus: Add the API key in the popup’s EmailOctopus integration and select a target list. Map the captured values to fields that exist on that list. A personalization field can then hold an individual answer instead of assigning every subscriber the same label. iContact: Enter the client folder details and authorize iContact from the popup. Select the receiving lists and map inputs to their corresponding subscriber fields. Test a fresh address in the chosen folder before copying the setup to another publication. Mailjet: Connect the Mailjet API key and secret from the popup editor. Choose the destination list and map the signup fields. For a multilingual newsletter, check the stored language property against the value the Mailjet segment expects. Moosend: Enter the Moosend API key in Poper, retrieve the account’s lists and select one. Map form inputs to Moosend fields before saving. Open a subscriber on that list to check the value used by the next segment or personalized mailing. SendFox: Create the SendFox key, connect the popup, select its destination and review the input mappings in Poper. Start with the subscriber email. Check which additional values are accepted by SendFox before including them in a personalization rule. Sendlane: Connect Sendlane in the popup editor using an API key. Select a list and any offer tags, then map the inputs to Sendlane fields. This gives a signup both a destination and a way to distinguish the promotion that collected it. SendPulse: Connect the SendPulse account from the popup editor with its API credentials. Choose the list and map the popup fields to the subscriber attributes needed for follow-up. A separate field for the offer source lets several popups share an address book. AWeber: Sign in to AWeber from the popup’s Integrations tab and select a subscriber list. Map the Poper inputs to existing AWeber field keys. For a preference beyond the standard fields, add an attribute in the mapping and make sure its key exists in AWeber. Campaign Monitor: Supply a Campaign Monitor API key and client ID in the Poper integration. Select the destination list and review field mapping before saving the popup. The guide says lists from multiple brands can appear, making the list choice especially important for agencies. Constant Contact: Name the connection in the popup editor and sign in to Constant Contact. Selecting a list is optional. Poper fetches the account’s custom fields for mapping, so an answer can travel with the address. Choose the list explicitly if membership starts your follow-up. GetResponse: Enter the GetResponse API key in the popup editor, select a list and map the submitted fields, including custom fields. The guide describes a subscriber arriving on the selected list. Check the autoresponder day independently if this signup starts a timed course. Klaviyo: Connect Klaviyo, choose a list and map popup inputs to its fields. Configure reward delivery and the subsequent email sequence in Klaviyo.

Check deal creation separately when a report counts opportunities rather than people. Zoho CRM: Authorize Zoho CRM from Poper and map popup inputs to corresponding CRM fields. A qualifying question needs a matching destination key. Inspect the resulting record and its module before promising that a form will put a deal in a salesperson’s pipeline. What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

These scores are relative to Personizely and Poper in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
