OptiMonk vs Claspo.
Should this promotion run at all?

Compare OptiMonk and Claspo for coupon experiments, competing widgets, subscriber confirmation and storefront targeting.

What do you need your website to do next?

A retailer can investigate two different problems with its spring offer. Perhaps the coupon goes to people who would have purchased anyway. Or perhaps shoppers never see the newsletter invitation because a wheel and a service notice both open first.

OptiMonk lets the retailer compare a promotion with a no-popup group and evaluate order outcomes. Claspo makes the order and spacing of competing messages a practical part of production. Choose the problem to solve before comparing the number of games or templates.

How the comparison works

15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.

Formats & content

OptiMonk generates campaign designs from a brief and offers desktop and mobile views. Notices, form content and display elements can then be revised for the intended campaign. Claspo offers bars, popups and teasers that can reopen a widget after dismissal.

Forms

OptiMonk collects email, name, phone, radio choices, checkbox-group answers and comments. Required-field settings and button destinations control the submission journey. Its AI builder can generate a multi-step form, while field mapping carries answers into a connected marketing service. Separate screens organise the questions but do not by themselves establish answer-driven branching. Claspo forms can span several screens, collect consent, accept choice and text answers, and carry hidden values.

Gamification

OptiMonk’s wheel and scratch incentives and Claspo’s range of mechanics give the designer different options. Specify prize availability and repeat entry first, particularly if two campaigns can promise the same limited reward. OptiMonk provides a wheel and scratch-card controls in its AI builder. Wheel odds are calculated across winning slices, and a slice with an empty coupon code is a losing slice. Scratch settings allow up to four weighted prize rows, with designed, solid or gradient covers; the planner describes a prize on every play. Our 2:1 scratch weights produced 66.7% and 33.3%. Its wider documentation also lists a gift format. Claspo’s games include seasonal reveals, slots and memory cards. In its slot template, prize probabilities and the signup step have separate controls.

Targeting

OptiMonk combines delay, exit intent, scroll, inactivity, click and custom-event triggers with country, visitor history, referral, UTM, cookies and subscriber conditions. Campaign priority and previous-exposure rules coordinate several messages. AI-assisted settings changes provide another way to edit timing and audience conditions without rebuilding the campaign. Claspo can queue eligible widgets or suppress an invitation for the session when another campaign takes precedence.

Experiments

Keep the same products, traffic source and offer period across the groups. Compare profit per eligible visitor across the campaign and no-popup groups using store orders, discounts and product costs. To isolate the discount itself, keep the popup design fixed and vary the offer. An increase in orders can still leave the shop earning less on each visitor.

OptiMonk adds a no-popup control alongside a design, and traffic splits evenly between versions; a custom split is not available. Automatic winner settings include a 95% chance-to-win threshold, at least 200 conversions and three days. This gives an optimization team more explicit controls over the comparison and stopping rule. Claspo includes widget A/B testing on its free Shopify tier. The traffic allowance and branding terms still apply to the live experiment.

Email & SMS

OptiMonk’s connection routes let you pass captured contacts to a dedicated email or SMS platform. For a store already using Klaviyo, Mailchimp or another provider, this keeps follow-up in the system that owns customer journeys and reporting. Budget for that provider alongside OptiMonk. Claspo can send signup data to a connected email service, where the mailing team configures the welcome message.

Team & sites

OptiMonk invitations distinguish Member and Owner. Subscription, billing and usage management belong to the Owner role. That is a practical separation when one person manages campaigns and another controls the subscription. Claspo documents Admin, Marketer, Analyst and Viewer roles for its web app. Shopify installations have separate access guidance.

Developer

OptiMonk’s REST API and MCP server create and edit campaigns with scoped access. MCP can also change delivery settings and publish. These builder interfaces do not read leads or analytics; a webhook sends subscriber details to a callback URL. Claspo’s browser API can open an existing widget from a page button. An outbound webhook can forward submitted data to another service.

Data & reporting

OptiMonk supports Submit and Order goals alongside page visits, purchase value and add-to-cart value. Its subscriber area stores submitted contacts, with CSV and XLSX export. Commerce goals connect onsite campaigns with later store activity, rather than treating every button click as the same result. Claspo reports widget test performance. Integrations

A bilingual CleverReach campaign may need a specific confirmation form as well as a stored language. OptiMonk documents the confirmation step. Claspo supports mapping visitor inputs and static context. Inspect the actual confirmation email before the first mailing. OptiMonk’s provider menu includes Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot, Attentive, Postscript, Salesforce, Slack, Zapier and Webhook. Its own subscriber list stores campaign responses. Email and SMS connectors make it a natural capture layer for a store that already has a lifecycle-marketing stack. Claspo can combine a visitor’s answers with static campaign values on connectors that expose both kinds of field. Webhooks provide a configurable delivery route.

Brevo, Selzy, Maileon, Mailigen, MailWizz, Listamester, Omnisend, The Marketer, WebGalamb: Connect the provider account, select a list and map signup fields to the destination. Some connectors retain older service names in the picker, including Sendinblue for Brevo. CleverReach: Authorize the CleverReach account, choose a recipient group and map the form fields. OptiMonk offers a double opt-in mode that requires selecting a confirmation form. A new recipient can therefore be present but inactive until they click the email. CM Commerce: Select CM Commerce (Conversio) on the campaign, supply the CM Commerce API key and choose a list. Map popup inputs and add fixed field values where useful. The list and mapping can be edited for an individual campaign without removing the account connection. SendGrid: Select SendGrid in the OptiMonk campaign’s integration settings and supply the SendGrid API key. The guide describes adding form subscribers to the mailing list but gives no field-by-field mapping. Confirm any extra attributes inside Marketing Contacts. AWeber: Authorize AWeber in the OptiMonk campaign, choose a list and match the campaign inputs to field identifiers from that list. The mapping options depend on both the form and the selected list. Create the destination field before building a signup around a reader’s preference. Campaign Monitor: Enter the Campaign Monitor API key, test the connection and choose the mailing list in the OptiMonk campaign. To identify form signups, the vendor describes creating a source custom field on the Campaign Monitor list, refreshing the field choices in OptiMonk and selecting it. GetResponse: Connect GetResponse with an API key in the campaign, select the receiving list and map the popup inputs. A static field lets the merchant send a fixed campaign identifier alongside each address. You can change the list for one campaign while keeping the account connection. Klaviyo: Connect Klaviyo, choose a list and map the signup fields. Collected answers follow that mapping; segmentation and follow-up stay in Klaviyo. Mailchimp: Connect Mailchimp, choose a list and map the signup fields. Collected answers follow that mapping; segmentation and follow-up stay in Mailchimp.

+0.13

Kit: Use Claspo’s webhook integration to send submissions to a Kit form or sequence. The destination ID and request body specify where the subscriber goes and which fields are included. ActiveCampaign, MailBluster, MailerLite, MailWizz, Mautic, Newsletter2Go, Omnisend, Brevo, Zoho Campaigns, Acumbamail, VBOUT, Act-On, Userlist: Send widget submissions to an email platform through its documented integration route. Field mapping can include form answers and submission context where the receiving connector supports those values. beehiiv: Connect a beehiiv API key in the widget integration and select the publication. Map the required subscriber data and use static fields for information shared by everyone submitting that widget. Create the receiving fields in the correct publication first. CleverReach: Connect CleverReach at the widget’s integration step and choose the receiving group. Map the required email field and any additional supported inputs; fixed values can identify the particular signup offer. Inspect both recipient activation and field values in CleverReach. Dotdigital: Connect the widget to Dotdigital, choose the address book and map the contact inputs. System values such as site language and fixed campaign labels can go into separate Dotdigital fields. An address book membership alone does not preserve a visitor’s answer. Iterable: Connect the widget to Iterable, choose the subscriber list and map email plus any supported contact fields. Fixed field values can identify the campaign or language. Check the type of each receiving field when extending an existing Iterable profile. SendPulse: Choose SendPulse in the widget’s integrations, authorize with the account credentials and select the mailing list. Map each input to a SendPulse field and add static values if needed. A fixed language value is useful for a form published on only one language version of a site. SendFox: Claspo documents a webhook setup for SendFox. Configure the contacts endpoint and authorize the request with the SendFox token; map the required email and supported optional parameters in the request. If the signup belongs to one list, verify that membership after submitting. Constant Contact: Authorize Constant Contact on the widget’s Integrations step and select a list. Email is required. Map contact inputs such as name or phone, optionally add browser or language data, and use a static value when every signup should carry the same offer name. GetResponse: Connect the API key, choose the mailing list and map the required email address. Claspo can also transfer widget answers, system fields and fixed values. Its guide points to the list’s API subscription settings for signups that require a confirmation message. SendGrid: Create a restricted SendGrid key with Marketing access as specified in Claspo’s guide, then choose the list in the widget. Map email and any other supported form fields; static values can label the source. This lets a team identify the popup offer on the marketing contact. Klaviyo: Select a list and map each widget’s fields, including custom properties. Email and SMS subscription requests run separately and follow the list’s opt-in settings. Mailchimp: Authorize Mailchimp, choose an audience and map fields; email is required. Select existing groups, add fixed values and enable opt-in confirmation as needed. A Test button checks the setup.

MiniCRM, SalesAutopilot: Send new subscribers to the selected destination; provider-specific settings apply. Keap: Connect Keap to the OptiMonk campaign, choose tags that already exist in Keap and map form inputs to contact fields. You can send fixed fields too. Configure the follow-up in Keap using the tag or value the form actually supplies. Ontraport: Use an Ontraport App ID and API key with permission to add contacts. Choose an optional tag in the OptiMonk campaign; if you create the tag in Ontraport, refresh the choices before saving. Submissions add contacts with the selected tag. Salesforce: Connect Salesforce in the campaign and choose the receiving record type. Email maps to the CRM email field; review the suggested mappings for other inputs or leave an input out. A static source value can identify every record submitted by this campaign. HubSpot: Connect HubSpot, choose a list and map the signup fields. Collected answers follow that mapping; segmentation and follow-up stay in HubSpot.

SalesDrive, FluentCRM: Route form submissions into your CRM. Pipedrive: Connect the Pipedrive API token, include Name in the widget and map the supported inputs. You can also create a deal linked to the contact and use a selected component as the deal title. Claspo’s guide excludes transfer to custom Pipedrive fields. Zoho CRM: Authorize Claspo, choose the Zoho CRM module in the widget integration and map the inputs. The guide names Leads and Contacts and requires last_name. It also supports mapping system values and supplying a fixed field such as the enquiry source. Salesforce: Authorize Salesforce from the widget’s integrations and configure the destination and mapped fields. Claspo requires last name in its setup. Map a real surname field for a sales enquiry, then check that the remaining contact and campaign values reach the expected CRM fields. HubSpot: Select a static list and map widget, system or fixed values to contact fields. Email is required; contacts use single opt-in. Active lists are not supported.

What matters most to you?

Let’s put your priorities first

First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works

These scores are relative to OptiMonk and Claspo in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.

  1. Relative scores, not universal ratings

The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.

  2. One shared pool of 100 points

The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.

  3. How features earn points

If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.

  4. How prices earn points

Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.

  5. Which plans count

Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.

  6. How your priorities change the score

A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
