POWR vs Hello Bar.
Shopify signups or website-wide feedback?
Compare POWR Popup and Hello Bar on Shopify customer sync, email verification, modal surveys, promotions and plan limits.
What do you need your website to do next?
A store might run a launch notice a thousand times and collect only twenty addresses. The notice uses displayed-view capacity in Hello Bar. In POWR’s reviewed Shopify offer the capacity figure is form submissions. Looking only at the larger number on the pricing table misses the event the store actually pays for.
The workflow after signup differs too. The current POWR Shopify editor shows customer sync enabled by default. Hello Bar connects campaigns to contact lists and also offers a dedicated survey editor for questions that extend well beyond capturing an address.
How the comparison works
15 rounds compare both platforms against the same 196 capability criteria, with 100 points distributed across the sections. Each round explains the practical differences and adds to the running score. The table beneath each round shows how the points are awarded. The conclusions bring those results together for different uses of the platforms.
Formats & content
POWR Popup focuses on signup and discount campaigns, with a floating tab or button to reopen the widget. Its standalone editor and Shopify offer have different packaging, so match a display control to the subscription you will use. Hello Bar offers text-only announcements, top or bottom bars, sliders and floating alerts. A notice can retain its close control without asking for a signup or adding a destination button.

Forms
POWR’s Shopify editor separates required email consent from verification of disposable or undeliverable addresses on Starter. Hello Bar has a broader questionnaire when the visitor should give a rating or explain a purchase decision. The Shopify editor can require marketing consent. Starter adds checks for disposable addresses and domains that cannot receive mail. The standalone form also offers a terms checkbox. A form can collect an email, phone, free text and choices. The survey editor can present one question at a time and show a progress counter.

Surveys
POWR’s confirmed Popup workflow centres on contact capture and consent. A wider catalogue of form apps should not be read as a promise that every survey operation is included in the Popup product or its selected plan. Forms & Surveys includes modal questionnaires with a progress counter, star ratings, numerical scales, yes/no questions and multiple selections. Quiz is a separate goal for scored questions.

Gamification
If the brief needs chance-based interaction, compare a tool with the relevant game controls rather than purchasing a broad widget bundle on the assumption that its Popup app includes them. The gamification editor includes spin-to-win, scratch cards and mystery boxes. A campaign can assign probabilities to prizes and include a losing outcome.

Targeting
POWR Shopify Pro adds selected URLs, visitor type, exit intent and manual triggers. Hello Bar also supports custom events, and its Growth tier includes A/B tests for comparing invitations. In the Shopify editor, device rules, delay and scroll are marked Starter. Pro adds selected URLs, new or returning visitors, exit intent, manual triggers and frequency limits. Standalone plans label some controls differently. Combine URL, previous page, traffic source, location and visitor conditions. A custom browser event can trigger an existing popup, with a limit on repeated displays.

Experiments
The Popup editor can save distinct designs. A native traffic split between those designs remains unconfirmed for the Popup product. Paid plans starting with Growth include A/B testing. The offer counts popup views per site, so a test’s reach depends on both its audience rules and the plan allowance.

Email & SMS
An autoresponder serves a different job from a newsletter platform with broadcasts and multi-step journeys. Choose the response you need, then budget the sending system that actually performs it. Hello Bar delivers signups to a contact list and can alert account admins when a new lead arrives. Follow-up campaigns can run in the connected email service.

Team & sites
The POWR dashboard lets an owner share one app with a collaborator using an individual login. That access applies to the selected app. Each website has separate campaigns, contacts and analytics. Growth includes three seats. Premium and Elite list unlimited seats.

Developer
POWR uses documented response integrations and Zapier to connect campaigns to other services. A response trigger can start an external workflow without establishing an API for changing the popup itself. Hello Bar can send captured contact data to an endpoint through webhooks, listed for Premium and Elite. This is a delivery route for leads rather than an external campaign-management interface.

Support
Shopify Starter lists live chat and Free lists email support. Starter retains the entry submission allowance, so a support upgrade alone may leave a busy campaign short of capacity. Compare the channel you need rather than assuming “priority” means live chat or a guaranteed response time. A support upgrade can change the useful plan even when campaign capacity is sufficient.

Editor & workflow
POWR’s standalone Free editor saves changes automatically while keeping Publish as a separate action. Advanced display controls and welcome email are upgrade features in that offer; editor access does not include every visible control. Hello Bar lets you configure a campaign in the free editor and save it paused before activation. Separate the editing workflow from the paid allowance needed for ongoing views and split tests.

Data & reporting
POWR’s submission allowance counts a different event again. Keep traffic, displayed messages and completed forms separate when assessing campaign performance and the next required upgrade. Native contact lists can be exported. Salesforce connections can create a Contact or Lead with mapped popup fields, which affects where sales staff find the new enquiry.

Integrations
If Shopify Customers is the destination, POWR has a short default route. For a sales team that needs a Salesforce Lead with mapped fields, Hello Bar documents the record type and field mapping. Shopify Customers sync is enabled by default in the current Shopify editor. Klaviyo, Mailchimp and Google Sheets are marked Pro. Standalone and usage-based subscriptions have their own entitlements. Hello Bar connects to providers including Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign and Kit; its FAQ places webhooks on Premium and Elite.

Shopify
Installation is only the start: customer sync is different from reading cart contents, generating discounts or adding products. Choose POWR for the documented contact route, without treating that route as a complete ecommerce toolkit. These products can be considered for general website notices, but their confirmed Popup capabilities do not establish a full Shopify customer, cart or discount workflow.

What matters most to you?
Let’s put your priorities first
First, check that each tool can do the task. An absent or unconfirmed required capability means a dash with an explanation instead of a scenario score, and no winner highlight. Only qualifying tools share the points; a sole qualifier earns the full weight of each criterion it meets. 70 points go to the criteria directly related to it, and 30 to everything else. For “Popups without email marketing”, all 100 points go to the included capabilities and relevant popup pricing scenarios; unwanted features and email sending have zero weight. Both tools earn points for confirmed capabilities; unconfirmed ones earn zero. The first row keeps the original overall score.

How the comparison works
These scores are relative to POWR and Hello Bar in this comparison. They cannot be carried over to comparisons with other products: each tool’s points depend on what the other participant offers.
Relative scores, not universal ratings
The same capability earns half the points when both tools have it, and all the points when only one does. Changing the opponent can therefore change a product’s score without changing the product itself. The review pages separately show absolute capability ratings without price.
One shared pool of 100 points
The 15 rounds cover 196 criteria. Each round has a set weight, divided equally among its criteria. These weights are our editorial choices.
How features earn points
If both products meet a criterion, they split its points equally. If only one does, it earns all of them. An unconfirmed capability earns zero. If neither qualifies, those points are not awarded, so the two totals can add up to less than 100.
How prices earn points
Ten scenarios carry 1 point each. We use the cheapest confirmed plan meeting each scenario’s traffic and feature requirements, billed monthly in USD. Equal prices split the point; a plan costing half as much earns twice the share. A free qualifying plan beats a paid one. If only one suitable plan and price are confirmed, it earns the full point.
Which plans count
Feature rounds cover capabilities across the products’ plans. The total does not describe a single subscription; the pricing scenarios identify the plan needed for each stated use case.
How your priorities change the score
A tool must first meet the task’s required capabilities. If a requirement is absent or unconfirmed, its scenario score is shown as a dash and it cannot be the winner; the status explains why. Only qualifying tools participate in point allocation and price comparisons. A sole qualifying tool earns the full weight of each criterion it meets; criteria it does not meet remain unearned. Standard priorities assign 70 points to their relevant criteria and 30 to the rest, preserving relative weights within each group. “Popups without email marketing” instead distributes all 100 points among its included criteria, preserving their relative weights and giving everything else zero. It includes lead capture, testing, reporting and external handoff. Its pricing criteria exclude email sending and feedback workloads. Included email features carry no penalty: only the required plan price counts. The evidence and scoring rules stay the same. The overall-feature row keeps the original weights.
