CM Commerce Popup Integrations: Conversio Lists, Subscriber Status and Signup Fields

Connect a popup to an existing CM Commerce account. Compare documented Conversio routes, list IDs and the difference between a store customer and an email subscriber.

Open the sending account before selecting a connector. CM Commerce can appear under its former name, Conversio. Campaign Monitor also has a separate email marketing product. Choosing a familiar-looking logo in the builder can lead to instructions for a different destination.

Start from an existing CM Commerce login and make sure you can open the list that sends the store’s newsletter. OptiMonk still calls its connector Conversio. If your agency instead manages subscribers under a Campaign Monitor client, use the separate Campaign Monitor setup.

Identify a subscriber in the commerce account

A past buyer can already be known to the store before submitting a newsletter form. To check a popup integration, open the mailing list selected in the campaign and look for that address there. Inspect subscription status, including any outstanding confirmation, before using the address in a newsletter.

For a promotion serving an existing store, find a current subscriber, identify the list and record the fields used by a working mailing. Compare the external tool against that record. A migration between CM Commerce and Campaign Monitor needs its own plan; similar list names do not transfer credentials or subscriptions.

What should your CM Commerce popup send?

RequirementWhat to look for
Product and accountConfirm the sender is CM Commerce and that the connector or API key belongs to that account.
Newsletter listSelect a list or supply its ID as required by the popup. Find the submitted address on that exact list.
Subscription stateDistinguish pending confirmation from an active subscriber before comparing counts with form conversions.
Offer contextIf a mailing changes by promotion, map the visitor’s answer or a fixed campaign identifier to a field the commerce account can read.

Sorted by Popup Papa’s absolute capability score out of 100. This measures the overall toolkit, not the depth of this one integration. Prices are the directory’s Papa pick plans, not guaranteed minimum connector prices. Check the connector tier and capacity before buying; CM Commerce and any bridge subscription are separate.

Starting points for different needs

OptiMonk

Its instructions explicitly identify CM Commerce as Conversio. The integration selects a list and supports both mapped and static values.

OptiMonk review

Poptin

A useful starting point for a store that knows its list ID. The setup documents name, email, phone and message and sends a test lead.

Personizely

Consider it for basic subscriber acquisition. Its catalogue distinguishes CM Commerce from other email platforms; verify any custom mapping in the account first.

How each connection works

Connection details and plan conditions are shown below. The field tables describe the popup editor; supported transfer depends on the connector.

OptiMonk

Connection to CM Commerce

Select CM Commerce (Conversio) on the campaign, supply the CM Commerce API key and choose a list. Map popup inputs and add fixed field values where useful. The list and mapping can be edited for an individual campaign without removing the account connection.

CM Commerce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Field mappingChoose destination lists and map signup fields to email or CRM providers.
Phone fieldThe visual editor exposes a Phone field with a country selector. This establishes collection controls, not SMS consent or delivery.
Single choiceRadio options expose editable labels and recorded values. The connected field determines the choice type; switching type requires a new element.
Multiple choiceThe native choice-group panel supports multiple checkbox options, with an optional required flag.
Consent checkboxThe test form rendered an unchecked, optional email-marketing checkbox. It is a recorded choice field.Email marketing consent · Privacy terms consent
Free textThe generated form includes an optional comment textarea. An AI revision removed an unwanted duplicate from the first page.
Email captureThe inspected email field exposes required-field and error-message settings. A separate Shopify test form rejected empty and malformed email and stored a valid synthetic response in OptiMonk. The earlier multi-step editor preview did not enforce validation.

Papa’s take

A modest paid traffic tier for an active store; annual billing is cheaper.

Poptin

Connection to CM Commerce

Enter the CM Commerce API key and the target list ID in the poptin’s integration settings. The guide lists name, email, phone and message and sends a test lead after setup. Choose the CM Commerce integration when configuring this route.

Editor capabilityWhat it does
Single choiceThe inspected field offers Radio and Single-select display modes, with editable option labels and values. This confirms one selected answer; it does not establish a scored quiz or rating scale.
Email double opt-inChoose a double opt-in setting for the popup or inherit the account setting.
Phone fieldCollect a phone number in a dedicated contact field.
Free textCollect a written response with the Message field.
Consent checkboxAdd an Email Consent checkbox alongside the signup fields.
Hidden fieldsSet an input field to Hidden instead of displaying it to visitors.
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.

Papa’s take

Unbranded popup campaigns with a practical visitor allowance. Email bundles are separate.

Personizely

Connection to CM Commerce

Personizely lists CM Commerce separately as a destination for email subscribers from its popups. Check the actual subscriber list in the commerce account. The vendor listing confirms list growth; supported custom fields and the authentication steps are unspecified.

How the connection changes the workflow

Example setups using the connections described above.

Rebuild an established Conversio signup

A shop has changed its theme, but an older popup still feeds a functioning commerce newsletter. Capture a test signup through the old form and inspect the receiving list and subscriber status. Use that record as the acceptance test for the replacement.

With OptiMonk, compare campaign mapping and fixed fields. With Poptin, check the API key and list ID. Once the test lead appears, submit from the actual replacement form: the setup test cannot tell you if the live page is showing the correct campaign.

Explain the gap between checkout emails and newsletter growth

A shop sees more new customer addresses than new newsletter subscribers during a sale. Compare the store customer record, popup submission and list status for one known buyer and one first-time visitor.

If the buyer requested marketing but remains pending, inspect confirmation before sending a second invitation. If the visitor never reached the intended list, investigate the connector. Treating both as identical failures can lead to unnecessary resubmission.

Head-to-head comparisons for CM Commerce users

These comparisons cover the popup tools as a whole. Use them to compare forms, targeting and costs alongside the connection details above.

Poptin vs OptiMonk

Compare capturing standard contact details with mapping a fixed campaign source when several forms share a CM Commerce list.

OptiMonk vs Personizely

Compare a promotion that sends offer context with a widget used to acquire subscribers for a store list.

Poptin vs Personizely

Decide what the store needs beyond basic signup, from a test lead on the right list to a different offer on a return visit.

Check the whole journey before launch

Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.

  1. Verify access to the existing commerce account and its API settings.
  2. Check the newsletter list ID and match it against a working signup.
  3. Inspect subscription status separately from the customer record.
  4. Submit once from the replacement popup after the connector test succeeds.

Common questions

Are CM Commerce and Campaign Monitor interchangeable in a popup builder?

They have different setup instructions and destinations. For an existing Conversio account, use the route specifically labelled CM Commerce or Conversio.

What does Poptin use to select the list?

Its instructions take the API key and the ID from the CM Commerce list URL. Inspect the test lead on that list after approval.

Does a receipt prove newsletter enrolment?

A receipt establishes an order-related email journey. Check the subscriber record, list and confirmation state separately before including that address in a newsletter.
