iContact Popup Integrations: Account Folders, Lists and Subscriber Fields
Compare four iContact popup tools. Understand application credentials, account and folder IDs, list selection and the fields sent after signup.
An agency has a list called Monthly Update for two clients. A successful login proves that the editor can connect to iContact. It does not tell the agency which client received the subscriber. Identify the folder and list before copying a working popup.
For a single publication, test a fresh address on its mailing list. For a multi-client setup, search the other client’s list as well. Sending a real welcome email is a costly way to discover that the number copied into a cloned form belongs to the wrong client.
Recognize the different identifiers
Poptin’s instructions distinguish application credentials, an account ID, a folder ID and a list ID. Poper also documents a client folder and list selection. OptinMonster lets editors give the connection a friendly internal name. These pieces of information answer different questions about access and destination.
Keep the form’s plain-language name useful to editors, but check the receiving subscriber under the actual iContact list. If the next mailing uses custom fields, establish a working field map before adding the question to several sites.
What should your iContact popup send?
| Requirement | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Application access | Use the integration’s own registration and application password procedure. Check which client account the credentials can reach. |
| Client folder | Verify the folder containing the destination list, especially when different clients use the same newsletter names. |
| List and fields | Find the subscriber on the list and inspect name, phone or custom values individually. |

Sorted by Popup Papa’s absolute capability score out of 100. This measures the overall toolkit, not the depth of this one integration. Prices are the directory’s Papa pick plans, not guaranteed minimum connector prices. Check the connector tier and capacity before buying; iContact and any bridge subscription are separate.

Starting points for different needs
Poptin
A good fit when the team can supply exact IDs and needs name, email and phone. Its setup spells out each identifier.
Poper
Try it when selecting the folder and mapping signup fields are both important to the agency’s handoff.
OptinMonster
Useful when several campaigns share an authorized account. Give the connection a recognizable internal label and still verify the list on each campaign.
How each connection works
Connection details and plan conditions are shown below. The field tables describe the popup editor; supported transfer depends on the connector.
Poptin
Connection to iContact
Enter the app credentials, account ID, folder ID and list ID for the intended iContact account in Poptin. The list ID can be copied from the list URL. The documented fields are name, email and phone.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Single choice | The inspected field offers Radio and Single-select display modes, with editable option labels and values. This confirms one selected answer; it does not establish a scored quiz or rating scale. |
| Email double opt-in | Choose a double opt-in setting for the popup or inherit the account setting. |
| Phone field | Collect a phone number in a dedicated contact field. |
| Free text | Collect a written response with the Message field. |
| Consent checkbox | Add an Email Consent checkbox alongside the signup fields. |
| Hidden fields | Set an input field to Hidden instead of displaying it to visitors. |
| Email capture | Collect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list. |
Papa’s take
Unbranded popup campaigns with a practical visitor allowance. Email bundles are separate.
Personizely
Connection to iContact
Personizely lists iContact as a destination for its list-building widgets. Assign the receiving integration to the signup form and verify the address on the intended iContact list. The provider’s listing does not spell out a mapping for additional fields.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | The form editor offers a Phone field. This alone does not establish SMS subscription or delivery. |
| Free text | Custom fields include text and textarea for free-text answers. |
| Single choice | Custom fields include select and radio controls for one answer. |
| Multiple choice | A multiple-choice custom field type is available. |
| Consent checkbox | Separate email marketing, SMS marketing and privacy consent fields are available.Email marketing consent · SMS marketing consent · Privacy terms consent |
| Email capture | Collect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list. |
Papa’s take
Adds widget A/B testing and personalization; Essential has a different testing scope.
Poper
Connection to iContact
Enter the client folder details and authorize iContact from the popup. Select the receiving lists and map inputs to their corresponding subscriber fields. Test a fresh address in the chosen folder before copying the setup to another publication.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | Popup and standalone form editors offer a Phone field. This establishes number collection, not SMS consent or message delivery. |
| Free text | Standalone forms and surveys offer Short Text and Long Text fields for written answers. |
| Single choice | Dropdown and Radio controls are available in the popup, form and survey editors. |
| Multiple choice | The form and survey logic library offers a Checkbox Group for multiple choices. |
| Consent checkbox | The standalone form and survey libraries include a Terms control; popup forms offer a Checkbox element. Consent wording needs configuring for the intended use. |
| Hidden fields | The popup integration step offers hidden inputs. Forms and surveys also expose Hidden fields and a dedicated settings section. |
| Email capture | The AI-generated popup contains an email field. The Plinko editor also has an email gate before play. |
Papa’s take
Pro adds tests, games and integrations. The inspected monthly price is a promotion; confirm the traffic definition and ongoing rate before paying.
OptinMonster
Connection to iContact
Register the iContact application, set its application password and connect those credentials in OptinMonster. Select the list for the campaign. The connection label in the editor is for internal use; find the subscriber in iContact to verify the actual destination.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Email capture | Collect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list. |
Papa’s take
Adds countdowns and advanced targeting. Renews at $870/year ($72.50/month).
How the connection changes the workflow
Example setups using the connections described above.
Copy a signup from one client to another
Keep the form design, replace the client account details and inspect the new folder and list. Submit an address unique to this test. Have the second client open that subscriber before approving the form for publication.
Repeat the check against the first client’s list. This catches the common case where the visual design changed but one of the earlier destination settings survived the copy.
Report subscriber growth after a promotion
Count submissions for the popup and new reachable subscribers for the mailing separately. A loyal reader who signs up again may produce another conversion while leaving the unique list size unchanged.
Test a fresh email, an existing subscriber and a controlled address previously removed from the list. Inspect status as well as the profile. The mailing team can then explain which count measures interest in the offer and which measures audience growth.
Head-to-head comparisons for iContact users
These comparisons cover the popup tools as a whole. Use them to compare forms, targeting and costs alongside the connection details above.
OptinMonster vs Poptin
Compare who can build and publish each campaign and which inputs it accepts once the client folder and mailing list are settled.
Poptin vs Poper
Compare entering account and list identifiers with selecting the client folder and mapping subscriber fields in the popup.
Personizely vs Poper
If the mailing relies on custom answers, compare Poper’s documented mapping with the visitor-profile features you would buy Personizely for.
Check the whole journey before launch
Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.
- Record the intended client, folder and list before saving.
- Submit a new address and check the mapped fields on the subscriber.
- Look for accidental delivery to another client with a similarly named list.
- Repeat with an existing subscriber and inspect list status.
Common questions
Is the name I assign the connection the name of the list?
In OptinMonster the connection name is an internal label. Select the receiving list separately and check a test subscriber there.
Which route documents phone transfer?
Poptin’s iContact guide lists name, email and phone. Verify the actual phone field before using it for follow-up.
Does the public Personizely listing document custom-field mapping?
It establishes subscriber capture for iContact. For a specific preference or identifier, verify the mapping in the widget and on the contact before committing to that workflow.
