MailerLite Popup Integrations: Tools, Groups & Custom Fields

Compare popup tools that connect to MailerLite, with prices, group selection, custom fields and the differences between current and Classic connections.

A MailerLite popup connection links two different jobs: getting a visitor to subscribe and placing that subscriber where the next email can reach them. The popup controls the invitation and the questions. MailerLite holds the audience, its preferences and the follow-up. A successful transfer needs more than the same email address appearing in both dashboards.

This guide compares the popup tools in our directory with a recorded MailerLite connection. Their overall scores describe the wider toolkit; the connection details explain what is actually known about delivery. Group assignment, field types and the account version are particularly useful distinctions for this destination.

Groups and segments are different destinations

MailerLite groups are explicit collections of subscribers. Segments are generated from rules, such as a field value or membership of a group. A popup can therefore put a reader in a newsletter group while a segment subsequently selects readers interested in a particular subject. These are related operations, but a connector does not need to offer a segment dropdown for the setup to work.

For example, a publication could use one newsletter group and a topic field for its different editions. A download campaign might instead have its own group so that the promised resource has an identifiable entry point. Those are proposed setups: the appropriate arrangement depends on the connector’s supported fields and the automation configured in the account.

What should your MailerLite popup send?

RequirementWhat to look for
Account versionCurrent MailerLite and MailerLite Classic can have separate connector options. A valid key for one is not a reason to select the other.
Receiving groupA named group gives the signup a specific destination. Different campaigns can serve different audiences without requiring a separate email platform.
Field typesText, numbers and dates have different uses in segmentation. Automatic field creation does not necessarily preserve the type intended by the form.
Subscription stateContact delivery and permission to receive marketing are separate. Confirmation and resubscription behavior belong to the particular connection and account settings.
Campaign contextTopic choices, a campaign label or UTM values can explain why someone joined. Their transfer needs mapping support, rather than merely an extra visible input.
Welcome automationGroup membership can be part of an automation setup. The connector’s delivery result and the workflow’s entry conditions need to agree.

How the connection changes the workflow

Example setups using the connections described above.

A newsletter with several topics

An email address alone identifies the reader but does not record which edition they requested. A topic question can supply that distinction without creating a separate signup experience for every subject. In a proposed MailerLite setup, the campaign sends the address to a common group and maps the answer into a field used by a segment.

Getsitecontrol is relevant here because its mapping includes more than the visible answers. Campaign context and fixed values can travel alongside them. That is useful for distinguishing an editorial subscription from a resource download, although the actual destination fields still need to match the information being sent.

Getsitecontrol review

A resource offer with a defined entry group

OptinMonster’s MailerLite connection requires a provider group. That makes the group a practical boundary between offers: an ebook invitation can send subscribers to its selected group while a general newsletter uses another. The follow-up is then configured in MailerLite rather than inferred from the popup’s success screen.

The same guide documents custom-field mapping, but automatically created fields are text fields. A date or number should therefore be created with its intended type before mapping. This matters when the later campaign relies on a date comparison or numerical filter instead of simply inserting a value into an email.

Check the whole journey before launch

Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.

  1. Confirm whether the account uses current MailerLite or Classic, then choose the matching connector.
  2. Submit a new address and inspect the intended group and any mapped preferences.
  3. Compare the field types in MailerLite with the values sent by the popup.
  4. Follow the configured confirmation and welcome path, including the state before confirmation.
  5. Repeat with an existing subscriber and inspect resubscription, field updates and automation entry.

Common questions

Which popup tools connect to MailerLite?

The table includes tools with an explicitly recorded MailerLite email or CRM connection. It is ordered by overall capability score, while each expanded entry describes the available connection evidence.

Does the popup send subscribers to a group or a segment?

A connector may assign a group; segments then include subscribers according to their rules. OptinMonster explicitly requires a provider group. Other connectors should be assessed by their destination controls rather than assuming the terms are interchangeable.

Can I pass topic preferences to MailerLite?

A connector with suitable field mapping can send those answers. Getsitecontrol documents mapping form and system values; OptinMonster documents custom fields. The type and accepted values of the receiving field determine how the preference can be used.

Is MailerLite Classic the same connection?

Not always. OptinMonster exposes separate current and Classic options. The account version and credentials must match the connector selected.

Can the popup deliver a wheel coupon through MailerLite?

Do not infer this from game support alone. OptinMonster’s MailerLite guide says its spin-to-win coupon-data transfer is unsupported. Showing a reward onsite and passing it into the email platform are separate capabilities.

Are the prices shown the cost of MailerLite too?

No. They are the popup tools’ selected plans. MailerLite billing and any intermediary service are separate; the selected popup plan is also not a guarantee of the minimum connector tier.
