Kit Popup Integrations: Forms, Tags & Subscriber Sequences

Compare popup tools for Kit, formerly ConvertKit: form destinations, tags, custom fields and email sequences, with ratings, prices and practical workflows.

Kit organizes the subscription journey around more than an address. A reader can arrive through a particular form, receive a tag and enter an email sequence. A popup connection is useful when it preserves the part of that journey the creator actually needs.

For a newsletter, a single form destination may be enough. A resource library or course launch can need different entry points and follow-up. This guide compares recorded Kit connections and the distinctions that matter between capturing a subscriber and putting that subscriber into the intended workflow.

The destination can be a form, a tag or a sequence

Kit’s subscriber documentation distinguishes Forms, Tags and Email Sequences and explains that adding a subscriber to a form or tag can activate a configured automation. A sequence is the delivery route for its scheduled messages. These are related objects with different purposes.

OptinMonster’s Kit setup illustrates a connector that exposes several of those choices: a published provider form, with optional existing tags and sequences. Other Kit listings should be read on their own terms. A service name in a menu does not establish an identical set of destination actions.

What should your Kit popup send?

RequirementWhat to look for
Published formWhere the connector uses a Kit form, confirm the actual receiving form and its publication state.
TagsAn offer or topic tag can identify why a person subscribed. Direct tagging must be supported by the connector or supplied by the receiving automation.
Sequence entryA subscriber record alone does not prove enrollment in an email sequence. The relevant form, tag or direct sequence assignment must produce the intended route.
Custom fieldsPreferences need destination keys and compatible values. Some connectors require those fields to exist before mapping.
Repeat offersOne subscriber may request several resources. The connection needs to preserve the new request without treating every submission as a new person.
Reward deliveryA wheel prize or coupon requires its own data transfer. Email delivery support does not establish reward-code delivery through the same connector.

How the connection changes the workflow

Example setups using the connections described above.

A resource request that enters the right sequence

A creator offering a workbook and an introductory course has two different promises. Both visitors may belong to one audience, but they should not receive the same first message. The connection needs a destination that preserves the resource requested.

OptinMonster’s Kit connector exposes form, tag and sequence choices. This provides several ways to connect an offer to its follow-up, depending on the existing Kit automation. The form and sequence remain Kit objects; the popup is the entry screen.

A short newsletter form with address checks

For a regular publication, the useful experience may be a clear promise and one email field. Poptin adds address checks and typed properties around that simple form. It can collect the subscriber without requiring a move to its own email product.

Poptin connects through authorization or an API key and selects a Kit form to receive name, email and phone. That form’s confirmation-email settings determine whether the subscriber must confirm before joining, linking the external popup to the publication’s existing Kit signup process.

A webhook route to a Kit form or sequence

Claspo’s documented Kit setup uses its webhook integration. The receiving form or sequence ID identifies where the subscriber goes, and the request body specifies the submitted fields. This route exposes the destination explicitly instead of relying on a provider dropdown alone.

For a course signup, the destination can be the form associated with that offer or a particular sequence. The request must use the appropriate destination and field names. This is a more technical setup than Poptin’s form selector, with the mapping maintained in the webhook configuration.

Check the whole journey before launch

Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.

  1. Use a published receiving form where the connector requires one.
  2. Check a new subscriber’s form, tags and sequence membership separately.
  3. Inspect one custom-field value rather than only checking the email address.
  4. Repeat the resource request with an existing subscriber and inspect the follow-up.
  5. For a reward campaign, verify the reward data independently of contact delivery.

Common questions

Is Kit the same service as ConvertKit?

Yes. Some connector guides and URLs retain the earlier ConvertKit name. This guide uses Kit, matching the service name in our integration catalogue.

Does a Kit connection always support tags and sequences?

No. A named integration establishes the recorded connection, while the available operations depend on the connector. OptinMonster documents tags and sequences explicitly; other tools must be checked against their own setup.

Why does the subscriber arrive without the expected email?

The receiving form, tag and sequence membership are separate from the existence of the subscriber. A contact can arrive successfully while the intended automation entry or sequence assignment is missing.

Can custom fields be mapped to Kit?

Some connectors provide mapping. OptinMonster requires the destination custom fields to be created first. The wider table shows editor inputs, but those inputs alone do not establish their transfer through a particular Kit connector.

Can a game send its coupon to Kit?

That is a separate capability from delivering the email address. OptinMonster’s dedicated Kit guide states that its spin-to-win coupon-data transfer is not supported. Other game and connector combinations need their own evidence.

Do I need to replace Kit to use another popup builder?

No. The listed connections let an external tool handle onsite capture while Kit continues to own subscribers and follow-up. The popup subscription adds to, rather than automatically replaces, the email platform’s cost.
