Sendlane Popup Integrations: Lists, Tags and Email or SMS Opt-In
Compare signup tools for a Sendlane account, from a simple list sync to tagged quiz answers and separate email and SMS enrolment.
Before rebuilding a Sendlane form, open the list that receives your current signups and find the automation it feeds. You may need to replace only the capture step. Keeping the same list can save work, provided the new form also supplies the tags, fields and consent settings the automation expects.
Privy announced its acquisition of Sendlane in 2026. These instructions concern accounts using Sendlane credentials and lists. If your store now operates in Privy, verify the destination in that account before following an older Sendlane integration guide.
Choose between a list entry, a tag and an answer
Consider a skincare quiz. List membership identifies a subscriber; a tag can record a request for a particular routine; a field can hold the shopper’s skin type. The same person may request a second routine without becoming a new subscriber.
ConvertFlow documents separate actions for lists, tags and custom values. A simpler list-only setup is sufficient when the welcome sequence sends identical content to everyone. Confirmation still affects when that welcome email can arrive.
What should your Sendlane popup send?
| Requirement | What to look for |
|---|---|
| Signup list | Check the actual receiving list, especially when the connection takes an ID rather than displaying a name. |
| Tag action | Choose the tag that starts the intended automation. Check whether repeating a request by an existing subscriber starts it again. |
| User-entered field | Send the visitor’s answer through field mapping. Reserve fixed values for information shared by every signup from the offer. |
| SMS enrolment | Check account enablement, SMS plan and consent collection before promising a text reward. |

Sorted by Popup Papa’s absolute capability score out of 100. This measures the overall toolkit, not the depth of this one integration. Prices are the directory’s Papa pick plans, not guaranteed minimum connector prices. Check the connector tier and capacity before buying; Sendlane and any bridge subscription are separate.

Starting points for different needs
ConvertFlow
Try it for several offers serving one audience. It provides distinct actions for changing lists or tags and updating fields.
Wisepops
A candidate for email-first capture where the team needs to understand confirmation and custom fields before counting subscribers.
Justuno
Start here for a form collecting email and mobile details at different steps. Sendlane spells out the account requirements for that integration.
How each connection works
Connection details and plan conditions are shown below. The field tables describe the popup editor; supported transfer depends on the connector.
Poptin
Connection to Sendlane
On the individual popup, enter the Sendlane list ID, API key, hash key and subdomain described in Poptin’s setup guide. This route sends signups to that list. Check which credentials your account exposes before following this older setup in a new account.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Single choice | The inspected field offers Radio and Single-select display modes, with editable option labels and values. This confirms one selected answer; it does not establish a scored quiz or rating scale. |
| Email double opt-in | Choose a double opt-in setting for the popup or inherit the account setting. |
| Phone field | Collect a phone number in a dedicated contact field. |
| Free text | Collect a written response with the Message field. |
| Consent checkbox | Add an Email Consent checkbox alongside the signup fields. |
| Hidden fields | Set an input field to Hidden instead of displaying it to visitors. |
| Email capture | Collect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list. |
Papa’s take
Unbranded popup campaigns with a practical visitor allowance. Email bundles are separate.
Personizely
Connection to Sendlane
Connect a Sendlane API token, map Personizely custom fields and assign an action to the widget form. The available actions include adding a contact to a list and unsubscribing from a list. Inspect the action on a copied form before publishing it.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | The form editor offers a Phone field. This alone does not establish SMS subscription or delivery. |
| Free text | Custom fields include text and textarea for free-text answers. |
| Single choice | Custom fields include select and radio controls for one answer. |
| Multiple choice | A multiple-choice custom field type is available. |
| Consent checkbox | Separate email marketing, SMS marketing and privacy consent fields are available.Email marketing consent · SMS marketing consent · Privacy terms consent |
| Email capture | Collect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list. |
Papa’s take
Adds widget A/B testing and personalization; Essential has a different testing scope.
ConvertFlow
Connection to Sendlane
Connect the Sendlane account, then add automation actions to a form or funnel step. ConvertFlow can subscribe or unsubscribe a person, add or remove a tag, and set a fixed field value. Map a form input or survey answer separately when the value varies by person.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| SMS capture | Forms expose a Phone field and separate SMS Consent control; confirmation can use an SMS subscription code. Delivery depends on the connected service. |
| Phone field | Collect phone numbers with the built-in Phone field. SMS consent is a separate form control. |
| Single choice | Dropdown and radio fields collect one answer; survey answers can use text, images, icons, letters, emoji or colours. |
| Multiple choice | Radio/Checkbox Select fields and the survey Multi-Select setting allow multiple answers. |
| Free text | Text and Paragraph fields collect short or long written responses. Number, Date and Range fields are also available. |
| Consent checkbox | Separate Email Consent, SMS Consent and Privacy Consent controls are available in forms.Email marketing consent · SMS marketing consent · Privacy terms consent |
| Hidden fields | Hidden fields can carry extra values; field settings include prefilled values and URL-parameter mapping. |
| Email capture | The editor provides an Email field, prefilling and submission actions. Contacts can pass to a connected newsletter service or CRM. |
Papa’s take
For teams that need funnel A/B testing and conditional recommendations; simple lead capture can use a lower tier. Free is for building and previewing; going live requires a paid website plan. Integrations, validation and AI also consume a separate action allowance.
Poper
Connection to Sendlane
Connect Sendlane in the popup editor using an API key. Select a list and any offer tags, then map the inputs to Sendlane fields. This gives a signup both a destination and a way to distinguish the promotion that collected it.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | Popup and standalone form editors offer a Phone field. This establishes number collection, not SMS consent or message delivery. |
| Free text | Standalone forms and surveys offer Short Text and Long Text fields for written answers. |
| Single choice | Dropdown and Radio controls are available in the popup, form and survey editors. |
| Multiple choice | The form and survey logic library offers a Checkbox Group for multiple choices. |
| Consent checkbox | The standalone form and survey libraries include a Terms control; popup forms offer a Checkbox element. Consent wording needs configuring for the intended use. |
| Hidden fields | The popup integration step offers hidden inputs. Forms and surveys also expose Hidden fields and a dedicated settings section. |
| Email capture | The AI-generated popup contains an email field. The Plinko editor also has an email gate before play. |
Papa’s take
Pro adds tests, games and integrations. The inspected monthly price is a promotion; confirm the traffic definition and ongoing rate before paying.
Justuno
Connection to Sendlane
Generate a Sendlane API token and connect it to the Justuno promotion. Prepare the destination custom fields before collecting answers. Sendlane’s instructions call out account enablement for single opt-in and SMS consent, plus an active SMS plan for text marketing.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | The editor provides a Phone Number property and the inspected wheel template includes a country-aware mobile-number screen. |
| SMS capture | The wheel template separates mobile capture from email capture and includes SMS marketing consent copy, Terms and Privacy links. |
| Free text | Short Text and Long Text fields are available in the editor, alongside Date and profile properties. |
| Single choice | Radio Button and Single Select controls are available for collecting one answer. |
| Multiple choice | The field library includes Checkbox controls for selectable answers. |
| Consent checkbox | The editor exposes a Consent Checkbox and a separate SMS Opt-In Button. |
| Email capture | An Email Address field was added to an unpublished form. Required input, validation, duplicate handling and prefilling are available. |
Papa’s take
The self-service tier includes experiments without the managed-service fee.
Wisepops
Connection to Sendlane
Connect Sendlane from the email form’s Sync tab and choose the list. Wisepops describes confirmation for contacts sent to Sendlane. Check the contact after clicking the confirmation link when reconciling popup conversions with active subscribers.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Phone field | The form field menu includes Phone, separately from Email. |
| Free text | The question menu offers single-line Text and Multi-line text fields. |
| Single choice | Radio buttons and a Drop-down list are available in the question menu. |
| Multiple choice | The question menu includes Checkboxes for selecting multiple answers. |
| Hidden fields | Hidden field is available in the question menu for values that visitors do not enter visibly. |
| Email capture | Add an Email field to a form step. The inspected field can block addresses already collected. |
Papa’s take
For teams buying a managed onsite program, rather than just a popup editor. Final scope needs a quote.
Alia
Connection to Sendlane
Create a Sendlane API V2 token, paste it into Alia’s Integrations screen and select the list that should receive new signups. The setup guide establishes list delivery; check coupon fields and poll answers individually before using them in a welcome email.
| Editor capability | What it does |
|---|---|
| Consent checkbox | A dedicated email marketing checkbox can be made compulsory before signup. |
| SMS capture | The setup offers SMS collection, a country selector and single/double opt-in screens. Double opt-in reward delivery requires a flow with the SMS provider. |
| Single choice | Mini quiz records the selected answer under an editable question property and passes it to integrations. |
| Email capture | The inspected multi-step popup includes an Email field. Contacts and answer properties can pass to connected marketing platforms. |
Papa’s take
The entry tier already includes the core popup experiments. Shopify listing and the site calculator show different tiers; these are Shopify listing prices.
How the connection changes the workflow
Example setups using the connections described above.
Two samples, one Sendlane subscriber
A shopper requests a sample from a winter promotion, then returns for a different product launch. Keep the product interest as a field if it represents the current preference. Give each offer a distinct action when both requests deserve separate deliveries.
Open the existing subscriber after the second form. Compare the new tag, the previous tag and the automation history. A contact whose profile changed correctly can still miss the second sample email if the automation starts only on first entry to the list.
Diagnose a missing welcome message
A store sees ten form completions before lunch and fewer than ten reachable subscribers. Check the list, then inspect pending confirmation and existing addresses. Wisepops’ Sendlane guide explicitly calls out the confirmation step.
If a valid signup is missing entirely, check the token used by that campaign. With Alia, verify the list selected after saving the API V2 token. Use one fresh signup after a token change so that previous submissions do not obscure the result.
Head-to-head comparisons for Sendlane users
These comparisons cover the popup tools as a whole. Use them to compare forms, targeting and costs alongside the connection details above.
Alia vs Personizely
Compare the shopping experience and the questions each form can ask before selecting the data to carry into Sendlane.
ConvertFlow vs Personizely
Compare the work involved in building a quiz that changes either a Sendlane field or a list action on submission.
Justuno vs Wisepops
For a store with overlapping promotions, compare targeting and re-entry rules before switching on another welcome sequence.
Poptin vs Wisepops
For one newsletter, compare popup limits and form controls after checking that the editor supports the credentials available in your Sendlane account.
ConvertFlow vs Poper
Compare a quiz that routes readers into different follow-ups with a popup that sends a chosen list, offer tags and mapped answers to Sendlane.
Check the whole journey before launch
Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.
- Check which platform and account currently own the sending list.
- Submit with and without a phone number and inspect channel status.
- Verify an actual quiz answer and its destination field.
- Confirm a new subscriber, then repeat with an existing one.
Common questions
Does connecting an Alia popup transfer every poll answer?
Alia’s Sendlane instructions establish token setup and list selection. Check the individual properties on a test contact before using a poll answer or discount in the welcome message.
What if a Poptin tutorial asks for a hash key?
The documented Poptin route uses a hash key, subdomain, API key and list ID. Other tools document API V2 tokens. Follow the instructions for the tool and account you actually have.
Why test the email and SMS steps separately?
A visitor can abandon the second step. Follow-up must reflect the data and channel permission actually saved at that point.
