Salesforce Popup Integrations: Lead or Contact, Fields and Campaigns

Compare 11 popup tools with a recorded Salesforce connection. See which create leads or contacts, which way the data travels and how to check campaign attribution.

A sales rep waiting for demo requests looks in a lead queue. Marketing might be counting contacts in an event campaign instead. A form that writes a valid record in the wrong place can look successful to the website team while the rep never sees the enquiry.

Identify the Salesforce product, the object receiving the enquiry and the person responsible for follow-up. Klaviyo’s documented CRM connector reads Salesforce records into Klaviyo. A team looking to create leads from a Klaviyo signup needs a separate outbound route.

Which record should the sales team receive?

Ask the account administrator to show you a successfully handled enquiry. Note whether it began as a Lead or a Contact, who owns it, which fields are required and where the campaign association appears. Use that record as the specification for the popup.

Salesforce also has Web-to-Lead for teams that just need enquiries from a website. Its form and server-side validation can behave differently. An external popup becomes useful when you need extra targeting, a Contact instead of a Lead, multistep questions or campaign selection. Check CRM API access where the connector requires it.

What should your Salesforce popup send?

RequirementWhat to look for
CRM object and sync directionChoose an outbound Lead or Contact operation that matches the team’s process. A CRM import into a marketing profile is the opposite journey.
Required fieldsCheck surname, company and organization-specific validation for the selected object. A placeholder may satisfy validation while leaving a rep with an unusable record.
Source versus campaignA source field can label an enquiry as coming from a webinar. If attendance reporting uses Salesforce campaign members, verify that relationship separately.
Owner and queueSign in as the person who handles the enquiry and find it in their normal view. A successful write by the integration user is only the first step.

Starting points for different needs

Popupsmart

A candidate for teams that need to decide explicitly between creating leads and contacts. Its setup includes field mapping and a test before activation.

Popupsmart review

Sleeknote

Consider it for event acquisition when membership of a specific Salesforce campaign matters. The campaign builder exposes that choice after the field map.

Sleeknote review

Wisepops

Useful when operations staff must investigate failed signups. Its documented CSV includes the CRM response, and its mapping guide explains how missing surnames are handled.

How each connection works

Connection details and plan conditions are shown below. The field tables describe the popup editor; supported transfer depends on the connector.

Klaviyo

Connection to Salesforce

Install the Salesforce CRM integration in Klaviyo, select Salesforce objects and map their fields to profile properties. Records flow from Salesforce into Klaviyo, matched by email. This documented connection will help personalize a form or follow-up using CRM data; it does not establish a route for writing a Klaviyo signup back as a Salesforce lead.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
SMS captureCollect SMS consent with signup forms; use a phone input or a mobile tap-to-text flow.
Email double opt-inRequire subscription confirmation before adding someone to a double-opt-in list.
Email captureCollect email subscribers through signup forms and store them in the app’s own contact list.
Phone fieldA dedicated phone number input is available in sign-up forms; it validates the number format.
Free textA text input collects free-form answers such as names or open comments.
Single choiceRadio buttons and dropdowns let visitors pick one option from a preset list.
Multiple choiceMulti-checkbox fields let visitors select several options.
Consent checkboxA marketing consent checkbox can be added to forms and made required; selected values are stored on the profile as a consent property.
Hidden fieldsHidden properties can be attached to the submit button and are saved to the subscriber profile without being shown.

Papa’s take

The first paid email tier for a list growing beyond the free allowance.

OptiMonk

Connection to Salesforce

Connect Salesforce in the campaign and choose the receiving record type. Email maps to the CRM email field; review the suggested mappings for other inputs or leave an input out. A static source value can identify every record submitted by this campaign.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Field mappingChoose destination lists and map signup fields to email or CRM providers.
Phone fieldThe visual editor exposes a Phone field with a country selector. This establishes collection controls, not SMS consent or delivery.
Single choiceRadio options expose editable labels and recorded values. The connected field determines the choice type; switching type requires a new element.
Multiple choiceThe native choice-group panel supports multiple checkbox options, with an optional required flag.
Consent checkboxThe test form rendered an unchecked, optional email-marketing checkbox. It is a recorded choice field.Email marketing consent · Privacy terms consent
Free textThe generated form includes an optional comment textarea. An AI revision removed an unwanted duplicate from the first page.
Email captureThe inspected email field exposes required-field and error-message settings. A separate Shopify test form rejected empty and malformed email and stored a valid synthetic response in OptiMonk. The earlier multi-step editor preview did not enforce validation.

Papa’s take

A modest paid traffic tier for an active store; annual billing is cheaper.

Poptin

Connection to Salesforce

Authenticate Salesforce under the poptin’s Email and Integrations settings and map the form fields. Poptin requires a mapping for Company. Make sure the form actually collects a usable value before choosing this route for a business enquiry.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Single choiceThe inspected field offers Radio and Single-select display modes, with editable option labels and values. This confirms one selected answer; it does not establish a scored quiz or rating scale.
Email double opt-inChoose a double opt-in setting for the popup or inherit the account setting.
Phone fieldCollect a phone number in a dedicated contact field.
Free textCollect a written response with the Message field.
Consent checkboxAdd an Email Consent checkbox alongside the signup fields.
Hidden fieldsSet an input field to Hidden instead of displaying it to visitors.
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.

Papa’s take

Unbranded popup campaigns with a practical visitor allowance. Email bundles are separate.

Sleeknote

Connection to Salesforce

Set up a Salesforce connected app, then authenticate it from the campaign builder with the integration user and app credentials. Map the inputs to CRM fields. Sleeknote also offers an optional Salesforce campaign assignment, useful for getting event signups into the right campaign.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Field mappingMap quiz answer values and question names to destination fields.
Phone fieldThe editor provides a Phone Input element separately from its SMS element.
SMS captureA dedicated SMS element is available in the form editor.
Free textInput and Textarea elements collect short or longer written answers.
Single choiceRadios, Dropdown and Answer Buttons provide choice-based responses.
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.
Consent checkboxAdd a checkbox for consent alongside contact fields.

Papa’s take

Core covers campaigns and testing; buy the Games package only if you need it. Pricing says monthly visitors, but the cookie documentation ties billing to sessions separated by 30 minutes. Confirm the counting rule before choosing a traffic tier.

ConvertFlow

Connection to Salesforce

Connect Salesforce to ConvertFlow and configure the field mappings using the CRM fields’ data names. Map a quiz answer to a field on the receiving record so the sales team can use it after submission. Check the setup against the record model used by your own organization.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
SMS captureForms expose a Phone field and separate SMS Consent control; confirmation can use an SMS subscription code. Delivery depends on the connected service.
Phone fieldCollect phone numbers with the built-in Phone field. SMS consent is a separate form control.
Single choiceDropdown and radio fields collect one answer; survey answers can use text, images, icons, letters, emoji or colours.
Multiple choiceRadio/Checkbox Select fields and the survey Multi-Select setting allow multiple answers.
Free textText and Paragraph fields collect short or long written responses. Number, Date and Range fields are also available.
Consent checkboxSeparate Email Consent, SMS Consent and Privacy Consent controls are available in forms.Email marketing consent · SMS marketing consent · Privacy terms consent
Hidden fieldsHidden fields can carry extra values; field settings include prefilled values and URL-parameter mapping.
Email captureThe editor provides an Email field, prefilling and submission actions. Contacts can pass to a connected newsletter service or CRM.

Papa’s take

For teams that need funnel A/B testing and conditional recommendations; simple lead capture can use a lower tier. Free is for building and previewing; going live requires a paid website plan. Integrations, validation and AI also consume a separate action allowance.

Hello Bar

Connection to Salesforce

Connect Salesforce to a Hello Bar contact list and assign that list to the popup under Conversion. Choose whether submissions create a Lead or a Contact and check the field mapping for that object. Two campaigns can use different destinations even on the same website.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Field mappingSelect a Salesforce Contact or Lead destination and map popup inputs to its fields.
Email captureCollect email addresses in signup and game campaigns.
Phone fieldInclude a phone field alongside email and name.
Free textAdd named custom text fields with editable visitor-facing labels.
Single choiceAdd a dropdown field to collect a single selected answer.
Multiple choiceAdd a Multi-select field with configurable options and option columns.
Consent checkboxAdd a checkbox field to a form.

Papa’s take

Growth costs $39 per month with monthly billing, or $29 per month billed annually. It includes 50,000 popup views per site, three seats and A/B testing.

Popupsmart

Connection to Salesforce

Install the Salesforce package and authorize the connection in Popupsmart. Choose Lead or Contact, then map the popup inputs and any system or static values required for that record. Use the test step to check the destination before activating the campaign.

Salesforce setup
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Phone fieldCollect a phone number with a dedicated Phone input. This field alone does not establish consent for SMS marketing.
Free textUse Short Text or Long Input for written answers. The editor also provides name, address and date fields.
Single choiceLet visitors choose one answer through Single Choice or Dropdown.
Multiple choiceLet visitors select several answers with the Multiple Choice field.
Consent checkboxAdd the Notice and Consent element alongside form fields.
Hidden fieldsAttach a Hidden Input to the submission without displaying another question.
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.

Papa’s take

The first tier with A/B testing, plus two team members.

Wisepops

Connection to Salesforce

Connect an API-enabled Salesforce CRM account, then configure the sync on the form. Email, phone and names have default mappings, and you can map custom fields. If a visitor omits their last name, Wisepops documents sending a hyphen; its CSV export includes the Salesforce response for troubleshooting.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Phone fieldThe form field menu includes Phone, separately from Email.
Free textThe question menu offers single-line Text and Multi-line text fields.
Single choiceRadio buttons and a Drop-down list are available in the question menu.
Multiple choiceThe question menu includes Checkboxes for selecting multiple answers.
Hidden fieldsHidden field is available in the question menu for values that visitors do not enter visibly.
Email captureAdd an Email field to a form step. The inspected field can block addresses already collected.

Papa’s take

For teams buying a managed onsite program, rather than just a popup editor. Final scope needs a quote.

Claspo

Connection to Salesforce

Authorize Salesforce from the widget’s integrations and configure the destination and mapped fields. Claspo requires last name in its setup. Map a real surname field for a sales enquiry, then check that the remaining contact and campaign values reach the expected CRM fields.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Phone fieldThe editor provides a Phone field. This establishes phone collection, not SMS marketing consent or delivery.
Free textText input and Text area collect short and long written answers; Calendar and Date fields are also available.
Single choiceDropdown and Radio components collect a single selected answer.
Consent checkboxThe component library includes Checkbox and Data processing and terms of use controls.
Hidden fieldsAttach hidden fields to the widget submission through the editor’s hidden-field settings.
Email captureThe editor provides an Email field and a separate signup page in the inspected game template.

Papa’s take

Removes branding and leaves room for a growing store. Shopify pricing is used here. Team invitations are documented for the web app, but its help center excludes Shopify accounts.

Picreel

Connection to Salesforce

Sign in to Salesforce through Picreel, open Manage and assign the enabled popup campaigns that should sync. Picreel describes creating Salesforce contacts from captured addresses. If your pipeline begins with leads, verify the record type before handing traffic to this form.

Salesforce connection
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Field mappingMap popup fields to destination CRM fields.
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.
Phone fieldAdd a dedicated phone-number input to a popup form.
Free textAdd an Input Box for a visitor's written answer.
Single choiceAdd radio buttons or a dropdown to collect one choice.
Consent checkboxAdd a dedicated Consent field to the form.
Hidden fieldsAdd a Hidden Field to pass a value without a visible input.

Papa’s take

Enough capacity for straightforward lead capture. Business adds games; A/B testing access needs confirmation.

Adoric

Connection to Salesforce

The Classic form integration asks for the Salesforce organization ID. Adoric describes selecting the form fields to send, but its setup list does not specify the CRM object, required values or duplicate behavior. Those details matter before directing sales enquiries into a live organization.

Form integrations
Editor capabilityWhat it does
Email captureCollect email addresses through signup forms and pass new contacts to the connected mailing list.

Papa’s take

Classic plan summaries and the in-account feature matrix disagree on tier access. Shopify app pricing is a different offer.

How the connection changes the workflow

Example setups using the connections described above.

A demo request must reach a real sales queue

A B2B site asks for name, company and work email, then promises a call. Match those values to the required fields on the chosen object. Poptin requires a Company mapping; Popupsmart offers a Lead or Contact choice. Ask the rep which result is actionable in this organization.

Submit once with valid business details and once with a field that violates a validation rule. Find the successful record in the rep’s queue and locate the failure in the integration history or export. A thank-you screen is a poor substitute for either check.

Popupsmart reviewPoptin review

A webinar team needs campaign attribution

The team wants a list of registered people attached to one Salesforce campaign. Sleeknote documents selecting that campaign when saving the integration. Put through an existing CRM contact as well as a fresh signup, and inspect the campaign membership for each.

OptiMonk documents a fixed field value such as a campaign name. That can make filtering records easy. If the report counts campaign members, have the administrator demonstrate the step that creates membership before promising registration totals.

Head-to-head comparisons for Salesforce users

These comparisons cover the popup tools as a whole. Use them to compare forms, targeting and costs alongside the connection details above.

Popupsmart vs Poptin

Compare form controls once the administrator has specified which object should receive the demo request and whether Company is required.

Sleeknote vs Wisepops

Compare campaign design and testing when the receiving CRM also needs mapped fields or campaign attribution.

Poptin vs Picreel

Compare the capture tools for a sales enquiry, then use the connection notes to decide whether the connector writes the object your team uses.

OptiMonk vs Wisepops

If a sales rep needs more than a name and email, compare the form controls alongside the Salesforce fields available on the Lead or Contact.

Poptin vs Hello Bar

For a demo request, decide whether sales needs a Lead or a Contact and who supplies the company name. Then compare the popup plans that fit the site.

Check the whole journey before launch

Use a small test campaign with addresses you control. Check the receiving record and the follow-up, not only the popup’s success message.

  1. Verify the connected organization, CRM product and API access.
  2. Submit the real required fields and inspect the Lead or Contact created.
  3. Look for the record under the expected owner or queue.
  4. Find campaign membership separately from a source label.
  5. Repeat with a known email and check how duplicates and rejected records are handled.

Common questions

Is Salesforce Sales Cloud the same destination as Marketing Cloud?

No. The Salesforce CRM routes here describe CRM objects and fields. A marketing audience or data extension is a separate destination and needs its own documented operation.

Can I capture only an email address?

That depends on the connector and the object’s required fields. Wisepops describes a surname placeholder, while Poptin requires a Company mapping. Ask what your sales team will actually receive.

Will the standard Klaviyo integration send popup leads into Salesforce?

The documented sync takes Salesforce objects into Klaviyo profiles. If you need a write back to Salesforce, identify and test the outbound integration separately.
