Alternatives to Elfsight

Find alternatives to Elfsight Popup for targeted notices, conditional forms, games and agency access. Compare load limits, monthly prices and real campaign scores.

Why are you switching from Elfsight?

Look at the embed on the page you want to change. A popup asking for an email, a floating announcement bar and a reviews carousel might all say Elfsight in the dashboard. Only the first necessarily belongs to the Popup subscription. Replacing a working carousel because the signup form has reached a limit would turn a small change into a site redesign.

For a notice that loads across the site but rarely appears, compare Getsitecontrol on actual displays. If designers have run out of saved widgets and need a campaign calendar with games and tests, trial Claspo. If the missing step is getting a Shopify enquiry into the right customer record, start with POWR and inspect the subscription offered inside that store.

What Elfsight gets right and where it falls short

Elfsight is a sensible fit for a website with a small set of known tasks. Popup can display information without requiring a visitor to act. A form can reveal a field conditionally, send an immediate reply and deliver the entry to Mailchimp or an endpoint. An editor can vary elements by device without maintaining two completely separate campaigns.

Its low entry price can be significant. A studio maintaining three permanent widgets may get more value from keeping their existing embeds and changing a single question than from moving to a platform with a higher overall score. The studio knows who edits the widgets, where their answers go and how to remove them.

The number of saved widgets and monthly loads can force independent upgrades. A load can count before targeting rules allow a popup to appear. A different limit arises when the team wants a genuine experiment, an ongoing welcome series or an operator with tightly defined client permissions. Identify the first limit the live site actually reaches.

Elfsight alternatives by reason for switching

Each group uses the directory score out of 100 for that particular job. The first row gives you Elfsight as a reference. A lower-scoring tool can still be the best choice when it solves the particular problem behind the move.

Run your popup library within the right traffic allowance

Count all the places where the widget code is installed. Then count the subset of visits on which the campaign actually opens. An Elfsight form may be embedded throughout a catalogue but appear only on the returns page. The gap between the two counts is particularly important when comparing its price with display-based billing.

Getsitecontrol is a useful benchmark for selective exposure. Hello Bar suits a publication that intentionally wants a bar to be visible across most pages. Claspo is worth considering when the constraint is the number of ideas the team wants to keep and test, even if its own pageview model follows site traffic.

Take one archived widget out of the estimate only after deciding whether it must remain ready for the next season. A library with ten saved designs and one active campaign has a different capacity problem from one design that loads hundreds of thousands of times.

Keep conditional fields while improving the signup handoff

Elfsight already lets a visitor’s answer reveal another field. Moving a request form into a prettier single-screen newsletter popup can make the sales team ask the same questions again by email. Write down the follow-up question, any hidden source field and who uses the answer.

Getsitecontrol is worth trialling where two answers lead to distinct enquiries. Poptin is a good comparison when the missing control is a business address or typo check. POWR deserves a test when a submission must update a Shopify customer as part of the process.

For a returning contact, change the answer without changing the email address. Inspect the receiving record and its owner. Duplicate contacts, a stale preference and a missing sales request can all hide behind a successful submission screen.

Find a reliable winner between two popup designs

Duplicating an Elfsight widget can help a designer compare layouts, but it does not by itself create a split test. If one version runs during a clearance weekend and the other during a quiet week, a different audience gets each design. Decide whether you need to choose a headline or establish that any offer should run.

Claspo provides a way to split-test a signup or game, including on its free Shopify allowance. Hello Bar offers tests on paid plans and is a useful comparison for two versions of the same notice. OptiMonk can include visitors who see no promotion, particularly useful when a discount has a real cost.

Record one common outcome after assignment. If one variant shows the coupon on screen and the other delivers it by email, an on-screen click favours one design by construction. Redemption or a completed purchase measured for both groups gives a store a fairer basis for the decision.

Take the survey beyond showing one extra field

A basic enquiry can ask a visitor to choose a topic and reveal a comment box. Elfsight handles that well. A research team asking for a rating across regions, or collecting a recommendation score over time, needs consistent scales, answer exports and a clear definition of a completed response.

Claspo offers dedicated rating and NPS components. Hello Bar can show a sequence of questions with progress, including a star or a numerical scale. Getsitecontrol is attractive where the next question differs substantially for a happy visitor and an unhappy one.

Use the same three sample journeys for every candidate. Give a high score, give a low score with a comment and decline to leave an address. The research team should be able to explain where each answer went and how many respondents belong in the denominator without using the mailing list as a substitute.

Give clients enough control over a project

Elfsight Premium documents project-only sharing. A project member can maintain existing widgets under the documented permissions, while creating or deleting widgets and managing billing are separate concerns. Ask what the client actually wants to do when the designer is away.

Poptin is a strong candidate if the client needs a private subaccount and its own reporting key. Getsitecontrol suits a team that wants a designer to prepare a campaign and a manager to approve activation. Hello Bar can divide campaigns, contacts and analytics by website, with seats tied to the chosen plan.

Run the handover on a duplicated project. Invite the client, ask them to correct a date, obtain their own results and remove the old designer. A package with more seats can still require the studio to do part of the work that the client thought it was buying.

Move from displaying an offer to completing it

It takes little more than a message to tell visitors the warehouse is closed. Convincing a shopper to claim an offer can involve a code, a destination link or a change to the basket. Choose a replacement for the operation the shopper should complete. Measure a warehouse notice by its reach, even if nobody clicks.

Getsitecontrol is a useful first comparison for a Shopify merchant who wants the widget to apply an offer or add a product. Hello Bar works for an always-visible route to an offer page. OptiMonk earns a place when the store needs to determine whether the offer changed purchase behaviour after that action.

Test a returning shopper with an existing cart. Does the offer preserve the item and its quantity? Can the visitor close the promotion and still use the store normally? A convincing animation and a recorded click do not answer either question.

Replace the immediate reply with an ongoing email program

Elfsight’s autoresponder can acknowledge a request or send the link the visitor came for. Mailchimp or another connected service can handle what comes next. If that arrangement already works, a different popup can keep the same list. Bringing the series into the popup platform is a separate decision.

BDOW! is suited to a modest single-site list receiving frequent newsletters. Poptin Growth is worth testing for automations that should start only after confirmation. Getsitecontrol can combine a branching intake form and email workflows for a team willing to budget for sends.

Take an address that has unsubscribed from marketing and use it to submit a service request. Acknowledging the request and putting the person back into a promotional series have different consequences. Verify the actual contact status before migrating an export of old enquiries.

Elfsight alternatives ranked by overall rating

These overall scores cover the whole toolkit. Read the profile of any contender you would consider moving to.

Getsitecontrol · 72.87

Papa’s take

I’d start with the least visible widget on the busiest part of the site. Measure how often it really opens and follow one successful enquiry into the sales inbox. If the replacement improves both the monthly bill and the usefulness of that record, move that widget first.

A targeted campaign and a broadly loaded embed can produce very different usage totals. Getsitecontrol charges for widget displays per site, which makes it a relevant candidate for a store with a large catalogue and a narrow audience for each offer. For a notice shown to everyone, the same pricing advantage is much less certain.

The editorial difference is what happens after a visitor interacts. A conditional enquiry can ask for business details, a Shopify promotion can act on the cart and a later workflow can send email. Select only the parts the store owns today and price any new sending activity separately.

OptiMonk · 60.42

Papa’s take

I’d use the promotion that a merchandiser would be most nervous about turning off. Run it beside a genuine unexposed group and retain the cost of the discount in the result. That test can show whether a change of platform would pay for itself.

OptiMonk is a more ambitious purchase for an Elfsight user who wants to know whether promotions cause sales. An A/B comparison between two discount headlines can identify a better headline while leaving the business question unanswered. A no-popup group gives the store another baseline.

This switch rarely makes sense solely to maintain a single notice. Someone has to set the test duration, interpret orders and decide when to retire the offer. Include that capacity in the buying decision along with traffic and software price.

Poptin · 58.03

Papa’s take

I’d have a salesperson and an agency account manager attend the same trial. The salesperson should decide whether the entry is usable. The account manager should decide whether the right client can read its report without gaining access to the others.

Poptin separates popup operations from the additional follow-up and contact capacity offered in Growth. That makes it possible to address validation or subaccounts while keeping an existing sender. It also means an entry price for popups alone is a poor quote for replacing a whole mailing program.

Compare visitors arriving on pages carrying the snippet with the widget loads from the existing install. A repeat visitor browsing six pages can affect those measures differently. Keep the units on the estimate rather than comparing the two largest allowance numbers.

Hello Bar · 44.17

Papa’s take

I’d put the new bar on the shortest page in the catalogue. If it hides a product choice or pushes the order button below the fold, the site has paid for visibility in the wrong place. Repeat that check with the banner dismissed.

Hello Bar is a useful alternative when someone originally bought Popup but really wanted a persistent announcement and the ability to test its message. Paid plans include A/B tests. Site-specific contact lists and surveys can be useful when the next brief comes from a research team rather than the designer.

Forecast popup views for a normal and a peak month. A campaign that appears on most visits may use its allowance quickly, while a narrowly targeted survey behaves differently. If all the operator needs is a quiet help notice on a few pages, compare Elfsight’s actual load number before switching.

Claspo · 42.39

Papa’s take

I’d try a plain announcement as well as the most ambitious game on the calendar. Put both on the same test page and see which one takes priority. The interesting question for a small team is whether it can keep the site usable when several campaigns qualify at once.

Claspo offers a larger collection of game mechanics, popup experiments and controls for competing widgets. A marketing team that currently saves variations as separate Elfsight widgets can use an actual test for two alternatives and keep other visitors out of overlapping promotions.

A site can outgrow a free pageview tier even if the game itself rarely appears. For agencies, check the account in which the campaign will actually run. Claspo’s web-app roles and the documented Shopify access conditions differ. A successful test in a personal workspace does not settle the client handover.

BDOW! · 40.48

Papa’s take

I’d compare BDOW! with the combined cost of your Popup subscription and the sender you can actually retire. If that sender also runs paid customer journeys, it will probably stay. The economics look different once you account for that.

For a new publication, BDOW! can combine onsite signup, confirmation, list storage and native newsletters. A recurring send to a small list uses a different budget from loading a widget across a busy archive. Take the subscriber count and expected sending calendar into the quote.

A studio with multiple independent websites also needs to count site subscriptions. If the existing Elfsight project is mostly client notices and the studio does no mailing at all, the subscription’s newsletter allowance has little bearing on the choice.

POWR Popup · 25.58

Papa’s take

I’d ask the store owner to open POWR from their own Shopify account. Check the submission allowance, submit a test customer and inspect the actual Shopify record. A feature seen in the standalone dashboard is only useful if the store’s purchase includes it.

POWR and Elfsight both have wider widget catalogues. A store deciding between their popup products should price those products specifically. One may bill loads while the other offer limits form submissions. A popular service notice with no form and a heavily used contact campaign make those two units diverge.

A Shopify customer sync can reduce manual work when a merchant wants entries in the store rather than just in an email list. Verify an update to a customer who already exists. Compare a normal request with a marketing opt-in so staff know what the resulting record permits them to do.

Five switching decisions in practice

1. The widget loads on every page and appears on one

Trace a shopper through category pages, a product page and a returns page. The site-wide embed may load during the whole visit, while a returns invitation displays only at the end. Compare these two numbers over the same traffic period.

Check whether moving the embed to the relevant template would solve the cost problem in Elfsight. If it would, the next reason to switch must come from the form, targeting or reporting.

2. A customer asks a question without subscribing

Have a returning customer submit a product enquiry and leave marketing consent unchecked. Inspect the entry, the customer record and the email they receive. Sales needs enough data to answer; the newsletter should still respect the person’s subscription state.

Repeat with a genuine opt-in. A single successful receipt in the merchant inbox cannot distinguish those two journeys.

3. The autumn game and the delivery notice both qualify

A visitor arrives during the seasonal promotion just as a shipping delay starts. Decide which message has priority and whether the second should appear later or be suppressed for the visit.

Test the order with a returning visitor who has already played. A calendar of individual campaigns can look perfect in the editor while producing two interruptions in the first five seconds of a real session.

4. A mobile variant loses its close control

An Elfsight design hides a decorative element on mobile. The replacement recreates the desktop appearance but stacks the same content above the close button on a small screen. Try the longest translated sentence on a narrow product page.

Dismiss the message, rotate the phone and follow a link to another page. Those steps reveal whether a visitor can get back to the original shopping task after seeing the notice.

5. A freelancer should edit the client project but never see billing

Create a trial account with sample data for two fictional clients. Give the freelancer the proposed role and ask for a copy edit on one campaign. Ask the client to publish the update and retrieve the results after the freelancer leaves.

Include reporting credentials in the handover. Removing an editor from a project should prompt the operator to review who still holds the keys used by the external reporting sheet.

What would switching from Elfsight cost?

Start with one unbranded popup and an ordinary month’s traffic. Elfsight Basic buys three saved widgets and a load allowance. A competing free tier that keeps its badge or counts only a small lifetime allowance answers a different design brief.

Price the smallest installation the client will approve

Now list the existing embeds and the number of widgets you must retain, including seasonal drafts. A one-page installation may fit the same design into a much smaller plan than a site-wide installation. Quote the actual pages that load the code before comparing prices for an imaginary site redesign.

Launch popups without vendor branding

Remove vendor branding from popups; 1 website, 1,000 visitors and 2,000 pageviews per month; at most 500 contacts; monthly billing.

Elfsight pricing$6 · BasicBasic removes Elfsight branding and covers 2,000 widget loads with its 5,000-load allowance at $6 monthly.
Getsitecontrol pricing$19 · ProPro removes widget branding and covers 2,000 widget displays.
Claspo pricing$39 · 50K pageviewsThe first paid Shopify tier removes branding and covers 2,000 pageviews.
POWR Popup pricingNo confirmed monthly quoteThe recorded Shopify plans specify submission allowances, but not the popup traffic allowance required by this scenario.

Improve popup conversion with A/B testing

The second quote prices a live A/B test. Branding removal was the requirement in the first quote. If the client needs both, check that the same plan can remove the badge, split traffic and report an outcome for each version.

A/B-test two popup variants, for a promotional click or a form submission; 1 website, 1,000 visitors and 2,000 pageviews per month; at most 250 contacts; no email sending; monthly billing.

When I’d keep Elfsight

Keep Elfsight when a few widgets handle the notices and conditional forms you actually need, and loads remain within the paid tier you intended to buy. If a third-party integration already delivers the right entry and the immediate reply satisfies the visitor, a migration adds little.

Revisit the decision when the team repeatedly duplicates widgets to approximate tests, starts paying for loads from unrelated pages or needs clients to do work outside their project permissions. Each problem has a different best alternative and a different first campaign to migrate.

Overall verdict · Three alternatives to Elfsight

Getsitecontrol is my first trial for selective display and more involved form or cart actions. Claspo is the better trial for games and competing campaigns that need live tests.
