What does one view, action or submission cost?
We divide the monthly price of Papa pick by 1,000 widget displays, 50 actions (5%) or 20 submissions (2%). These are fixed examples for comparison, not measured results or predicted conversion rates.
For a $20 monthly plan
| Result | Calculation | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| One popup view | $20 ÷ 1,000 displays | $0.02 |
| One action | $20 ÷ 50 actions | $0.40 |
| One submission | $20 ÷ 20 submissions | $1.00 |
Each figure allocates the same subscription fee to a different result; do not add them together. Twice as many results halves the allocated cost per result.
A view
A visible display of the popup, whether or not the visitor interacts with it. This is useful for announcements and service notices, where showing the message can be the goal. A display does not prove that someone read the message, and a website pageview does not necessarily include a popup.
An action
An interaction that completes the campaign’s intended action: following a link, copying a coupon, adding a product to the cart or giving standalone consent. The goal is to help the visitor do something, rather than submit contact details. The chosen tool and plan must support the intended action; the estimate does not imply that every tool supports all of them.
A submission
A successful form submission: an email or SMS signup, lead enquiry, feedback or other collected data. A form submission and its consent checkbox are not counted again as actions. Actions and submissions are alternative campaign goals, not consecutive funnel steps.
Does the plan fit?
We check the documented allowances for one site against this monthly workload: 1,000 visitors, 2,000 pageviews, 1,000 visible widget displays and 250 total billable contacts. For contact and submission limits, we allow for 20 new contacts or submissions. Where billing counts widget loads or funnel views, we allow for 2,000 of those events separately. They are not equivalent to visible displays.
For plans with a documented email-send limit, we also check 500 sends. Separately billed email is excluded. If a documented limit is exceeded or billing capacity is unresolved, we show “Not calculated” with the reason. We do not automatically switch to a more expensive plan.
What the price covers
The calculation uses the selected Papa pick plan, which may differ from the entry price under From. Annual subscriptions use their monthly equivalent but require an annual payment. Introductory and renewal terms appear beside the plan. Prices shown are in USD; taxes, setup, separate services and discounts offered to shoppers are excluded.
Amounts are rounded to two decimal places, so a small positive cost can appear as $0.00. These figures compare subscription cost under one shared scenario, not equivalent features, vendor charges per result or total customer acquisition cost. An estimate does not mean every listed action or form type is supported by that plan; check the relevant features.
The price is only half the comparison.
A $19 plan and another $19 plan may buy very different things. Some services count every page load. Others count visitors, popup displays, or funnel views. Annual equivalents and first-year promotions create another layer of difference.
Two prices, two different questions
From is the lowest documented entry price, including free plans and published annual discounts. Free trials do not count. Annual prices are monthly equivalents and require payment upfront; the billing period is labelled next to the price. Papa pick is the plan we would shortlist for the audience described in Who it’s for. It is an editorial choice, not a claim about the most popular subscription. We weigh feature requirements, usable capacity and the extra cost of moving up a tier. We do not upgrade just because a provider labels a plan popular. The lines below each price show important inclusions and exclusions for that plan; product badges describe the wider product, not a promise that every feature is included. The side-by-side comparison explains when a cheaper plan can be enough.

What does the counter actually count?
Providers use different names and counting rules. A billed event does not always mean someone saw your popup. For example, 10,000 pageviews with a popup shown on only 1,000 of them can consume 10,000 pageview units or 1,000 display units, depending on the billing rules. Those allowances buy different things.
| Billing term | What to check |
|---|---|
| Pageviews | Page loads where the service is installed. Traffic may count even when no popup appears; repeat page loads can use more allowance. |
| Visitors | An audience counted over a defined period. Check whether repeat visits, different browsers or devices count again. Visitors are not necessarily popup viewers. |
| Sessions | Browsing visits, not unique people. One person can generate several sessions; the provider defines when a new session starts. |
| Widget views / impressions | Check the definition: a “view” may count a load rather than a visible display. Repeats and multiple widgets may count separately. |
| Widget loads | A widget loading can consume allowance before it becomes visible. Loading and showing are not necessarily the same event. |
| Displays | Check whether this is the billing unit or just a format name. If displays are billed, confirm what triggers a count and whether showing the same popup again counts again. |
| Funnel views | Check whether the counter covers a whole funnel, its individual steps, or repeat visits. Do not treat one funnel view as one visible popup. |
Before you choose a plan
Compare its allowance with your pageviews, visitors, sessions and popup displays separately. There is no universal conversion between them. For multiple sites, check whether capacity is shared or each site needs its own subscription.
Check the amount due today, renewal price, required features and what happens at the usage limit. Add taxes, email charges and any extra services to your budget. A cheaper subscription does not necessarily cover the same work.
How to read Per view, Per action and Per submit
These columns divide Papa pick’s monthly price by 1,000 displays, 50 actions or 20 submissions, provided the documented allowances fit our scenario. They are examples, not measured results. Open the asterisk beside any heading for the workload and exclusions. Detailed comparison articles use their own stated pricing scenarios and may select different plans.
Can an AI agent run your popups?
Imagine asking an agent to find an outdated offer, pause it and report what it achieved. That requires access to campaigns and results, not just an AI button that rewrites a headline. We assess how much of this work each tool actually opens up to an external agent.
Five jobs, one practical question
| Agent task | What we look for |
|---|---|
| Understand | Read existing campaigns, content, targeting and settings. |
| Create | Build or edit a campaign, rather than only generate its text. |
| Operate | Start, pause or update campaigns with a clear account-level effect. |
| Measure | Retrieve results and experiment data to evaluate what happened. |
| Work safely | Limit permissions, approve consequential changes, revoke access and recover from mistakes. |
The connection matters
We inspect API and connected-app settings, editor controls and official documentation. An MCP server can expose tools directly to an agent; an API can support a custom connection. The useful part is the operations each interface permits. A webhook may only send a form submission out. A browser API may show an existing popup to one visitor without letting an agent edit or pause the campaign for everyone.
In-app AI is assessed separately: it may help a person write copy or build a draft inside the editor. It does not by itself establish external agent access. An agent clicking through the dashboard is also different from a supported interface with explicit permissions and predictable operations.
Read the status, then the limits
Limited readiness means the established route is narrow, such as event delivery or browser hooks. Partial readiness means useful agent work is supported but important steps still need a person. We reserve full readiness for evidence covering the complete workflow, including safe control; an MCP logo alone does not earn it. The task breakdown explains the scope behind the overall label.
Supported means backed by the evidence stated in the review. We distinguish documentation, controls inspected in an account and operations actually executed. Check the date, plan restrictions and remaining manual steps before relying on an agent to run a live campaign.
How we compare popup tools
We help you choose a tool for a specific job: an announcement, a signup form, a survey, a game or an automated campaign. Popups are not all email capture, and a long feature list does not tell you whether the product fits your work. We examine access, editor capabilities, connections, plan limits and cost together.
The review starts before the editor
Can a new user get in and try the product? We record when a payment card is required or a sales conversation stands between registration and access. An optional demo is different from a mandatory one; an old account may also have access that a new signup does not. These barriers matter when you need to evaluate a tool before committing time or money.
We open the controls behind the badges
Where access is available, we inspect the account and work with unpublished drafts. We look at field types, steps, conditional actions, targeting, triggers, games, integrations and AI interfaces. Related capabilities are grouped so you can see what Forms, Surveys or Gamification actually contain. Finding a control confirms that it is there; testing a complete workflow requires more than opening its menu.
| Evidence | What it establishes |
|---|---|
| Official documentation | The provider describes a capability, connection or plan condition. We link the source and record when it was checked. |
| Account inspection | We saw the controls or billing terms in the available account. Trial or legacy access may differ from a new paid subscription. |
| Executed workflow | We performed the stated task and observed its result. A saved draft is not a published campaign; a connection screen is not verified data delivery. |
Features and plan access are separate questions
A product badge describes a capability, not a promise that the cheapest plan includes it. We check the required tier, traffic unit, site allowance, add-ons and renewal conditions. If the pricing page and account disagree, we state the conflict rather than choose the more convenient version. Unclear capacity or billing can leave a cost estimate unavailable.
Papa picks depend on the job
We weigh useful features, practical limits and price for the audience named in each review. A broad game library can be a strength for interactive promotions; a simpler, cheaper tool can be better for a plain notice. Estimated cost per view, action or submission uses shared assumptions, not measured conversion performance. We do not turn feature counts into a claim about sales, reliability or ease of use.
Capability scores and comparison scores
The directory and reviews show an absolute capability score out of 100, excluding pricing. Reviews and comparisons use the same feature sections. Each metric belongs to one section; a feature’s total includes its own points and its subfeatures. AI agent readiness is a separate assessment, while scored API and agent interfaces belong to Developer.
Comparison articles also award points for pricing scenarios. Their scores depend on the pair being compared and are different from the absolute capability score. Each article shows the round breakdown, final totals and calculation rules.
What is still unknown stays visible
Audits are ongoing and coverage differs between tools. Review notes explain what we inspected and what remains untested; source dates apply to the corresponding evidence. Missing badges and Unconfirmed labels are not proof that a capability is absent. New account findings feed back into the directory, feature panels and reviews as we verify them.
Each score is out of 100 and independent of every other tool. Prices do not affect these ratings. The overall score retains the original feature weights.
Task profiles assign 70 points to their main capabilities and 30 to the rest. “Popups without email marketing” assigns all 100 points to its included capabilities. A dash means a required capability is absent or unconfirmed. Shopify capabilities have zero weight in “Driving clicks and actions”.

Klaviyo · Gamification
Papa’s take
Klaviyo’s game formats include spin the wheel. Klaviyo sign-up forms include a spin-to-win wheel with 2 to 6 slices; each slice has its own probability and gets its own success step and coupon. The game is the way an offer is revealed; prize configuration and the signup flow determine what the visitor actually receives.

Papa’s take

| Feature | How it works in Klaviyo |

| Browser API | The klaviyo JavaScript object can identify visitors, track events and open a form by ID; forms also emit klaviyoForms window events. |

Klaviyo · Data & reporting
Papa’s take
Klaviyo’s data and reporting tools include lead export, scheduled reports, and revenue goals. Custom reports can be scheduled weekly or monthly; Klaviyo emails a download link to the user who set the schedule.

Klaviyo · Integrations
Papa’s take

Klaviyo · AI agents
Creates and publishes forms through its API
Klaviyo is well exposed to agents: a Forms API creates draft forms and publishes them, a Reporting API returns form performance, scoped API keys and OAuth limit access, and an official MCP server covers campaigns, flows, profiles and reporting with a read-only mode. In-product AI builds campaigns, flows and segments and reviews existing forms.
| Agent task | What the agent can do |
|---|---|
| UnderstandSupported | Forms API reads form definitions and versions, and the Reporting API returns form performance. |
| CreatePartial | The Forms API creates draft forms from an encoded definition; A/B tests are set up in the editor. |
| OperateSupported | Forms can be published and unpublished through the API, and campaigns can be created and sent. |
| MeasureSupported | Reporting API returns campaign, flow, form and segment values (scopes forms:read, campaigns:read). |
| Work safelySupported | Private API keys have custom, read-only or full scopes; the MCP server supports read-only mode and scope-limited toolsets; forms are created as drafts. |
